Pass `signatureType` and `signatureMode` to change that — for example\n`signatureMode: \"SIGNATURES_CARD\"` collects signatures on a card appended to the\ndocument instead of stamping its pages.\n\n## Following a document and downloading the result\n\n```ts\nconst document = await client.getDocument(documentId);\nif (document.status === \"SIGNED\") {\n  await writeFile(\"contract-signed.pdf\", await client.downloadDocument(documentId));\n}\n```\n\nEach entry in `document.signers` carries `signedAt`, set when that person\nsigned and absent while their signature is outstanding. It is the only\nper-signer progress the API reports: `document.status` says whether everyone is\ndone, not who.\n\n`fileUrl` on the document is a short-lived link — fetch the document again for a\nfresh one rather than storing it. `downloadDocument` does that for you.\n\nA document can be downloaded while signing is still in progress; it then carries\nonly the signatures collected so far. Wait for `SIGNED` if you want the final,\nsealed file.\n\n## What a signer may be asked for\n\nThe rules differ by country, and a signer sent with a combination their country does not allow is\nrejected when the document goes out. A\nPolish address makes the tax id subject to the NIP checksum.\n\n`updateParty` replaces the whole party, so send every field you want to keep. Creating a party\nthat already exists — same tax id for a `COMPANY`, same e-mail for a `PERSON` — is rejected rather\nthan deduplicated, so look the party up before retrying a failed create.\n\nParties belong to the environment of the key that created them: a sandbox key never sees a\nproduction party. Listing has no `sort` — the searchable fields are stored encrypted, so the\nserver cannot order by them.\n\n## Webhooks\n\nAutosignly signs every delivery with `X-Webhook-Signature` and\n`X-Webhook-Timestamp`. Verify it before trusting the body:\n\n```ts\nimport express from \"express\";\nimport { webhooks } from \"@16it/autosignly\";\n\napp.post(\"/webhooks/autosignly\", express.raw({ type: \"application/json\" }), (req, res) => {\n  const ok = webhooks.isValid(\n    req.body,\n    req.header(\"X-Webhook-Signature\") ?? \"\",\n    process.env.AUTOSIGNLY_WEBHOOK_KEY!,\n    req.header(\"X-Webhook-Timestamp\") ?? \"\",\n  );\n  if (!ok) return res.sendStatus(401);\n\n  const event = JSON.parse(req.body.toString(\"utf8\"));\n  // ...\n  res.sendStatus(200);\n});\n```\n\nTwo things decide whether this works:\n\n**Verify the raw body.** The signature covers the exact bytes that were sent.\nParsing the JSON and re-serialising it changes them — hence `express.raw()`\nrather than `express.json()`.\n\n**Deliveries expire.** Anything older than five minutes is rejected even when\nthe signature matches, so a captured request cannot be replayed later. Pass\n`{ tolerance: 0 }` to opt out, for example when replaying a stored delivery in a\ntest.\n\nDuring a key rotation Autosignly signs with both the new and the previous key\nand sends both signatures in one header. `isValid` accepts either, so you can\nswap your stored secret without dropping deliveries.\n\n### What a delivery carries\n\nTwo event types, both naming the document in `documentId`:\n\n| `eventType` | when | also carries |\n|---|---|---|\n| `DOCUMENT_SIGNED` | one signer has signed | `signerId`, and `email` of the person who signed |\n| `DOCUMENT_ALL_SIGNATURES_DONE` | the document is finished, closing seal included | nothing else |\n\n`DOCUMENT_ALL_SIGNATURES_DONE` arrives after finalization, not when the last\nsignature lands, so the file behind `fileUrl` is the final one by the time you\nact on it.\n\n## Errors\n\nEvery failure is an `AutosignlyError` subclass carrying the API's `errorType`\nand `errorId` — quote the latter when reporting a problem.\n\n| class | when |\n|---|---|\n| `AuthenticationError` | the key or secret was rejected (401) |\n| `PermissionDeniedError` | valid credentials, no access to this resource (403) |\n| `NotFoundError` | no such document, tag or file (404) |\n| `ValidationError` | the request was rejected as invalid (4xx) |\n| `RateLimitError` | too many requests (429); `retryAfter` holds the delay asked for |\n| `ServerError` | the API failed to process the request (5xx) |\n| `ConnectionError` | the API could not be reached at all |\n| `InvalidSignatureError` | a webhook signature did not match |\n\nTransient failures — 429 and 5xx — are retried twice by default with\nexponential backoff and jitter, honouring `Retry-After`. A rate limit asking for\nlonger than a minute is reported to you instead of blocking. Set `maxRetries: 0`\nto handle retries yourself.\n\nWrites carry an `Idempotency-Key` header, generated once per call and kept\nacross the retries of that call, and the API honours it: a retry whose original\nhas already finished gets the stored response back instead of creating a second\ndocument, and a retry that catches the original still in flight is rejected with\n`409` (a `ValidationError`) rather than duplicating the write.\nSuccessful responses are remembered for 24 hours.
