\n\n## Installation\n\nAdd this package as a devDependency to your project:\n\n```\nyarn add --dev @4th-motion/git-hooks\n```\n\n
\n\n## Usage\n\nOnce the package is installed, you can initiate it with:\n\n```\nyarn 4th-git-hooks\n```\n\nNow you can specify the tasks to be performed on a particular hook. The tasks must be present in the `script` field in _package.json_.\n\n```json\n{\n \"git\": {\n \"pre-commit\": [\"lint\", \"test\"]\n }\n}\n```\n\n_Note that the `commit-msg` hook is always executed. This ensures that commits can only be pushed with certain keywords (e.g. `feat`, `fix`, …) and never to the master branch. If you do not want to activate this hook, just remove it from the `hooks/` folder._\n\n
\n\n### Commit messages\n\nCommit subjects follow [Conventional Commits](https://www.conventionalcommits.org/) with an optional lowercase scope and breaking-change marker:\n\n```\nfix: preserve task output\nfix(backend): preserve task output\nfeat(api)!: remove a legacy endpoint\n```\n\nSupported types are `build`, `bump`, `chore`, `ci`, `docs`, `feat`, `fix`, `i18n`, `perf`, `refactor`, `revert`, `style`, and `test`.\n\nClickUp references use a separate format and do not accept a scope:\n\n```\nCU-123abc: preserve task output\n```\n\nOnly the first line is validated, so commit message bodies and `BREAKING CHANGE:` footers remain supported.\n\n
\n\n## Behind the scenes\n\nThe initialization process extends the _package.json_ file as follows:\n\n```json\n{\n \"scripts\": {\n \"postinstall\": \"4th-git-hooks\"\n }\n}\n```\n\nThis will copy all git-hooks from the `hooks/` directory during each installation. You can always edit existing hooks or add new hooks. A list off all git hooks can be found [here](https://git-scm.com/docs/githooks).\n\n
