Adafruit has a\n[tutorial](https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruits-raspberry-pi-lesson-4-gpio-setup/configuring-i2c)\ncovering this. I suggest adding one more step at the end so i2c can be used\nwithout sudo. This step adds the user pi to the i2c group. Logout and log\nback in to make this take effect.\n```bash\n$ sudo usermod -a -G i2c pi\n```\n\n### Install node.js on a Raspberry Pi\n\nThe node.js package in the Raspian repo is too old be used with this module.\nAdafruit has another excellent page showing\n[how to install the latest node.js version](https://learn.adafruit.com/raspberry-pi-hosting-node-red/setting-up-node-dot-js)\non the Pi.\n\n## Install this module\n\n```bash\n$ npm install @abandonware/htu21d-i2c\n```\n\n## Usage\n\n````javascript\nvar i2c_htu21d = require('@abandonware/htu21d-i2c');\n\n// If using a Raspberry Pi, do not specify the i2c device name.\n// The correct name will be used based on the board revision.\n// Older boards use /dev/i2c-0, newer ones use /dev/i2c-1.\n// If using any other board, specify the device name.\n// For example: i2c_htu21d({device: '/dev/i2c-1/'});\nvar htu21df = new i2c_htu21d();\n\nhtu21df.readTemperature(function (err, temp) {\n if (!err) { console.log('Temperature, C:', temp); }\n\n htu21df.readHumidity(function (err, humidity) {\n if (!err) { console.log('Humidity, RH %:', humidity); }\n });\n});\n````\n\n## node.js v0.12.0\n\nThis works with the current version of i2c (0.2.1) and node 0.12.0. If using an\nolder version of node, use i2c@0.1.8.\n\n## License\n\nThe MIT License (MIT)\n\nCopyright (c) 2015 bbx10node@gmail.com\n\nPermission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy\nof this software and associated documentation files (the \"Software\"), to deal\nin the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights\nto use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell\ncopies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is\nfurnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:\n\nThe above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all\ncopies or substantial portions of the Software.\n\nTHE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED \"AS IS\", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR\nIMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY,\nFITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
