Primer gives them a small local memory for things like:\n\n- which test runner you prefer\n- how you like imports organized\n- naming and formatting habits\n- when you prefer explicit types\n- how much commenting or docstring detail you want\n- project or language-specific style preferences\n\nThink of it this way: CodeGraph helps agents understand code structure; Primer helps agents remember\nyour coding style.\n\n## Quick Start\n\nInstall Primer and the core Agent-Primer setup for all supported agents:\n\n```bash\nnpx @agent-primer/primer setup --global\n```\n\nInstall only for the current project:\n\n```bash\nnpx @agent-primer/primer setup --project .\n```\n\nAfter setup, restart your agent or IDE so the `primer_*` MCP tools can load.\n\nRequirement: Node 22.13 or newer. The npm setup path is native Node and does not require `bash`, so\nit works on Windows, macOS, and Linux.\n\n## What Setup Does\n\n`primer setup` wires two things:\n\n- **Agent-Primer basics**: shared agent instructions for CodeGraph setup, careful coding habits, and\n  the Superpowers methodology.\n- **Primer style memory**: a local database, MCP server config, and startup hooks that give agents a\n  short `[Primer]` style brief each session.\n\nIf you run setup with `npx`, any persistent hook or MCP entry is written so it can resolve Primer\nagain later instead of pointing at npm's temporary cache.\n\nThe CodeGraph startup hook is wired in bootstrap mode. On the first agent session in a new repo, it\ntries to install/register CodeGraph if needed, build the local `.codegraph/` index, and then let the\nagent continue the original task with structural context. If command approval or a restart is needed,\nthe agent gets exact recovery commands instead of a vague setup note.\n\n## Day-To-Day Use\n\nMost of the time, you just use your agent normally.\n\nWhen you state a durable preference, an agent with Primer enabled can record it.
