The manifest\nrecords its factory release and a checksum and ownership rule for each generated\npath.\n\nRun the read-only workspace doctor:\n\n```sh\nnpx @ai-role-factory/cli@preview doctor ./workspaces/my-company\n```\n\nDoctor checks required files, unresolved setup values, instruction drift,\ninvalid JSON or YAML, integration consistency, and unsafe secret placement. It\ndoes not change the workspace.\n\n## Preview an update\n\nGenerate a fresh target with the same role, modules, and intake settings. Then\ncompare it with the installed workspace:\n\n```sh\nnpx @ai-role-factory/cli@preview plan-update \\\n  ./workspaces/my-company \\\n  --target ./workspaces/my-company-new\n```\n\nFor machine-readable output:\n\n```sh\nnpx @ai-role-factory/cli@preview plan-update \\\n  ./workspaces/my-company \\\n  --target ./workspaces/my-company-new \\\n  --json\n```\n\nThe plan reports files that could be added, updated, preserved, removed, or\nblocked by a conflict. It does not apply changes.\n\n## Ownership and privacy\n\n- Factory-owned files can change only while the installed copy still matches\n  its generated baseline.\n- Customer-owned files, including profiles, operating scope, session notes,\n  MCP config, environment files, and secrets, are always preserved.\n- Mixed files stop for review when both the customer and factory changed them.\n- New customer files are preserved.\n- The maintenance commands run locally and send no workspace telemetry.\n\nThere is no write-capable updater in the current release.\n\n## Help\n\nRead the public\n[workspace maintenance guide](https://ai-role.ctoondemand.co.uk/help) for file\nownership examples, update-plan meanings, backups, and common questions.\n\nIf you prefer not to use a terminal, use the\n[hosted builder](https://ai-role.ctoondemand.co.uk/).
