The options form accepts:\n\n- `useCache?: boolean` — `false` uses the network only; `true` uses Webrequest's persistent HTTP cache under keys isolated by endpoint, RPC method, and request body. Webrequest enforces `Cache-Control`, `no-store`, freshness, conditional revalidation, and its 256-entry default bound. Cache hits are accepted only for successful non-stream response payloads and are placed in a new envelope for the current request identity; cached identity and correlation fields are never trusted.\n- `timeoutMs?: number` — a positive integer up to `2_147_483_647`. One monotonic deadline is checked during request preparation and bounds HTTP transport, JSON body consumption, server-directed retries, and retry waits. Synchronous code cannot be interrupted between checks.\n- `maxRetries?: number` — a safe integer from `0` to `1_000`; defaults to `3`. This bounds server-directed retry responses even when no request deadline is configured.\n- `abortSignal?: AbortSignal` — requests cancellation at preparation checkpoints and is passed to transport, retry waits, response decoding, and VirtualStream staging. Custom targets must declare `supportsAbortSignal: true` and cooperate with the signal; TypedRequest cannot forcibly stop synchronous or non-cooperative work.\n\nDeadline failures throw `TypedRequestTimeoutError`, which exposes the RPC\n`method` and original `timeoutMs`. An HTTP abort or timeout is never converted\ninto a stale-cache fallback. A `TypedTarget` can opt into the same contract by\ndeclaring `supportsAbortSignal: true` and settling its transport work with\n`options.signal.reason` when the signal aborts. A local call or a transport without remote\ncancellation receives a non-aborted fallback signal; handlers must observe the\nsignal themselves, and must not rely on fallback signal object identity.\n\n### 🚦 Routing Requests\n\n`TypedRouter` dispatches incoming requests to the correct handler based on the `method` field:\n\n```typescript\nconst router = new TypedRouter();\nrouter.addTypedHandler(addHandler);\nrouter.addTypedHandler(secureHandler);\n\n// Route an incoming request object\nconst response = await router.routeAndAddResponse(incomingTypedRequest);\n```\n\nWhen a transport supplies authenticated connection or request context, pass it\nas `trustedLocalData`. Before authority checks or stream graph decoding, the\nrouter deletes configurable own `localData` properties without reading them and\nshadows inherited properties with a non-enumerable `undefined` data property.\nAn envelope is dropped before any authority callback if an own property cannot\nbe removed or an inherited property cannot be safely masked. Authority contexts\nreceive a frozen `trustedLocalData` copy, and handlers receive a separate copy\nonly after decoding succeeds:\n\n```typescript\nconst response = await router.routeAndAddResponse(incomingTypedRequest, {\n  trustedLocalData: {\n    requestContext,\n    authenticatedUser,\n  },\n});\n```\n\nHandlers receive these server-owned values through `tools.localData`. Use this\noption at network trust boundaries instead of copying `localData` from the\nrequest.\n\nIncoming request guards, incoming response guards, and incoming request signal\nresolvers receive the readonly `wireLocalDataPresent` boolean in their authority\ncontext. It is captured before sanitization and is `true` only when the raw\nenvelope had its own enumerable `localData` property, matching the property\nshape serialized by ordinary object transports. Inherited and non-enumerable\nproperties do not count. No raw `localData` value is exposed at any of these\nboundaries, and neither route options nor `localRequest` can set or suppress the\ncaptured flag.\n\nCancellation-aware transports register the trusted signal separately and own\nits terminal cleanup:\n\n```typescript\nconst detachSignalResolver = router.registerIncomingRequestSignalResolver(\n  (request, context) => cancellationRegistry.register({ request, context }),\n);\n```\n\nThe resolver returns `{ abortSignal, complete }`. Once a registration is\nreturned, the router attempts its `complete()` callback once when that routing\nattempt terminates, including missing handlers, middleware denial, decode\nfailure, and handler failure. Callback errors are contained. A transport that\nroutes a request directly may instead pass `trustedAbortSignal` to\n`routeAndAddResponse()`. Neither channel is serialized into `localData`.\nThe resolver's authority context contains the same `wireLocalDataPresent` and\nfrozen `trustedLocalData` values seen by the incoming request guard.\nRequests entering a registered signal resolver must carry a non-empty\ntransport-generated `requestInstanceId`; malformed identities are rejected\nbefore resolver or handler invocation. Local routing without a resolver remains\navailable for request objects that do not carry this transport identity.\n\nA transport should install one synchronous incoming request authority guard on\neach application entry router:\n\n```typescript\nconst detachRequestGuard = router.registerIncomingRequestAuthorityGuard(\n  (request, context) =>\n    context.typedRouter === router &&\n    !context.wireLocalDataPresent &&\n    context.trustedLocalData.peer === exactPeer &&\n    request.correlation?.phase === 'request'\n);\n```\n\nThe guard must return literal `true`. False, truthy non-booleans, and thrown\nresults deny the request with `null`. Denial occurs before stream transport\nresolution, descriptor validation or staging, hooks, handler lookup,\nmiddleware, and handlers. `localRequest` does not bypass this boundary, and a\nguard on an application router also gates handlers reached through fallback\nrouters. Only one owner may register a request guard; its identity-safe detach\nfunction is idempotent.\n\nRouters are **composable** — you can nest them to build modular API architectures:\n\n```typescript\nconst coreRouter = new TypedRouter();\nconst authRouter = new TypedRouter();\n\n// Each sub-router manages its own handlers\ncoreRouter.addTypedHandler(addHandler);\nauthRouter.addTypedHandler(secureHandler);\n\n// Link them together — requests flow through the entire chain\nconst mainRouter = new TypedRouter();\nconst detachCoreRouter = mainRouter.addTypedRouter(coreRouter);\nconst detachAuthRouter = mainRouter.addTypedRouter(authRouter);\n\nfunction shutdown() {\n  detachCoreRouter();\n  detachAuthRouter();\n}\n```\n\n`addTypedRouter()` returns an idempotent disposer for the bidirectional edge\ncreated by that call. Adding an already-connected router returns a no-op\ndisposer, so it cannot detach another call's edge. Disposal removes the child\nfrom both routers, permits a later re-add, and affects future handler lookups;\na request that already selected its handler continues to completion.\n\nUse a one-way fallback when several isolated application routers need access\nto the same protocol handlers without gaining access to each other:\n\n```typescript\nconst publicRouter = new TypedRouter();\nconst internalProtocolRouter = new TypedRouter();\n\ninternalProtocolRouter.addTypedHandler(protocolHandler);\nconst detachProtocolRouter = publicRouter.addFallbackRouter(internalProtocolRouter);\n\nfunction shutdown() {\n  // Release the owned composition edge after the router's active lifetime.\n  detachProtocolRouter();\n}\n```\n\nRequests entering `publicRouter` can reach `protocolHandler`; requests entering\n`internalProtocolRouter` cannot reach public handlers. TypedRouter rejects\nmethod collisions both when routers are composed and when handlers are added\nlater, and rejects fallback edges that would create a routing cycle. The\nreturned idempotent disposer removes only an edge created by that call; adding\nan already-connected fallback returns a no-op disposer.\n\nUse `router.getMethodNames()` to inspect the sorted set of method names\nreachable through the router's local, bidirectional, and fallback composition.\n\n### 🛡️ Middleware\n\nAdd middleware functions to a `TypedRouter` that run **before** any handler on that router executes. Throw a `TypedResponseError` from any middleware to reject the request before it reaches the handler.\n\n### 🎯 Custom Targets with TypedTarget\n\nFor non-HTTP transports (WebSockets, broadcast channels, IPC), use `TypedTarget` with a custom post function:\n\n```typescript\n// Synchronous target (post returns the response directly)\nconst target = new TypedTarget({\n  postMethod: async (payload) => {\n    // Send via your custom transport and return the response\n    return await myWebSocket.sendAndWait(payload);\n  },\n});\n\nconst request = new TypedRequest<IGetUser>(target, 'getUser');\nconst user = await request.fire({ userId: 'user-123' });\n```\n\nCustom targets that support request deadlines or VirtualStreams must declare\nand honor cancellation:\n\n```typescript\nconst boundedTarget = new TypedTarget({\n  supportsAbortSignal: true,\n  postMethod: async (payload, options) => {\n    return myTransport.sendAndWait(payload, {\n      signal: options?.signal,\n    });\n  },\n});\n```\n\nEvery `fire()` creates a fresh top-level `requestInstanceId`, including a fresh\nID for each server-directed retry. Network and custom-target responses must echo\nthe exact ID. Async response interests and transport cancellation registries\nmust key the exact method, correlation ID, and request instance ID so a stale\nresponse or cancel cannot affect a later attempt that reuses the correlation ID.\n\nFor **async targets** where the response arrives separately (e.g., WebSocket push), pair a `TypedTarget` with a `TypedRouter`:\n\n```typescript\nconst router = new TypedRouter();\nconst exactPeer = getTransportPeer();\n\nconst detachResponseGuard = router.registerIncomingResponseAuthorityGuard(\n  (response, context) =>\n    context.typedRouter === router &&\n    !context.wireLocalDataPresent &&\n    context.trustedLocalData.peer === exactPeer\n);\n\nconst asyncTarget = new TypedTarget({\n  postMethodWithTypedRouter: async (payload) => {\n    // Fire-and-forget — response will arrive via router\n    mySocket.send(JSON.stringify(payload));\n  },\n  typedRouterRef: router,\n});\n\n// When the response arrives later, route it back:\nmySocket.onMessage((data) => {\n  router.routeAndAddResponse(JSON.parse(data), {\n    trustedLocalData: { peer: exactPeer },\n  });\n});\n\n// During transport shutdown:\ndetachResponseGuard();\n```\n\nSeparately routed responses are bounded by `responseTimeoutMs`, which defaults\nto 30 seconds. Expired and aborted waits remove their router interest\nimmediately. A transport should install one response authority guard and bind\neach response to its exact peer or session authority. A guard must return\nliteral `true`; false and thrown results drop the response before hooks and\ncorrelation-interest fulfillment. Only one guard owner may be registered, and\nits detach function is idempotent. Use `context.wireLocalDataPresent` when the\ntransport protocol forbids `localData` on incoming response envelopes.\n\n### Virtual Streams\n\n`VirtualStream` is one transport-neutral facade for finite transfers and\nopen-ended streams such as camera frames. It carries ordered logical\n`Uint8Array` chunks through an exact `virtual-stream-v1` endpoint. One\n`send()` or `WritableStream.write()` maps to one `receive()` result or readable\nenqueue even when the parent transport fragments data internally.\n\nShared DTOs use `TVirtualStream<'send'>` or `TVirtualStream<'receive'>`. The\ndirection is always local to the requester. `TypedHandler` applies\n`TReverseVirtualStreamDirections` recursively to objects, tuples, and function\nsignatures, so a request stream declared as requester-local `send` reaches the\nhandler as local `receive`. A response declared as requester-local `send` is\ncreated by the handler as local `receive` and arrives at the requester as local\n`send`.\n\nNon-stream values keep their exact types, including branded primitives and\noverloaded or generic callbacks. Direction mapping preserves the codec's opaque\nvalues (dates, regular expressions, binary views, maps, sets and promises).\nAsync iterable resource handles, including native sockets, are also opaque. Recursive\nDTO graphs use exact type identity to avoid revisiting a cycle; structurally\nassignable descendants still receive direction mapping.\n\n```typescript\nimport type {\n  ITypedRequest,\n  TVirtualStream,\n} from '@api.global/typedrequest-interfaces';\n\ninterface IUploadRequest extends ITypedRequest {\n  method: 'upload';\n  request: { stream: TVirtualStream<'send'> };\n  response: { stored: boolean };\n}\n```\n\nA transport creates an explicit, already-authorized creator registration\nthrough its own high-level stream factory. Bind that exact registration to the\npublic facade:\n\n```typescript\nimport type {\n  IVirtualStreamTransport,\n  IVirtualStreamTransportRegistration,\n} from '@api.global/typedrequest-interfaces';\n\ndeclare const virtualStreamTransport: IVirtualStreamTransport;\ndeclare const registration: IVirtualStreamTransportRegistration<'send'>;\n\nconst sendingStream = VirtualStream.fromRegistration({\n  transport: virtualStreamTransport,\n  registration,\n});\n```\n\n`VirtualStream` has no public empty constructor and never registers a stream\nduring encoding. The registration direction, endpoint direction, stream ID,\ncontent type, and integrity must match exactly. TypedRequest validates its shape but does not normalize or compare\nit. Repeated stream IDs in one graph deduplicate to one facade and one staged\nopen when creator direction, content type, and integrity match; the first\ntransport payload is authoritative. Streams beneath the echoed `.request`\ninside a response envelope are omitted so they are not opened twice.\n\nAll facades expose `protocol`, local `direction`, `streamId`, optional\n`contentType` and `integrity`, `opened`, `completion`, `closed`, and `abort()`.\nSenders add `send()`, `writable`, and `close()`. Receivers add `receive()`,\n`readable`, `accept()`, and `reject()`. `undefined` from `receive()` is graceful\nEOF. A finite receiver drains EOF and calls `accept()`; an open-ended stream\nomits `integrity`. `completion` resolves with the same accepted receipt on both\npeers and rejects for every abnormal outcome.\n\nDecoded endpoints are transport-staged and application-blocked. The descriptor\nconsumer alone may initiate physical OPEN, and only after TypedRequest reaches\nan established application boundary. On incoming requests, the router runs the\nowning middleware chain while every stream operation remains blocked, then\nauthorizes request facades immediately before invoking the handler. On\nsuccessful responses, TypedRequest authorizes decoded facades only after\nresponse authority, envelope, protocol-error, and descriptor validation. The\ntransport's `openVirtualStream()` must return a staged opposite-direction\nendpoint without control or data activity. Its second argument contains the\nremaining `timeoutMs` and an `abortSignal`; transports must settle staging\npromptly with the signal's exact reason when it aborts.\n\nPublished or opened endpoints are aborted on parent failure, timeout,\nmiddleware denial, handler error, partial staging failure, or response encoding\nfailure. An unpublished, unused explicit registration is rolled back only with\nits synchronous no-I/O disposer. Published registration disposal waits for the\nendpoint's mandatory `closed` settlement. Transports must always resolve\n`closed` within a bounded terminal-cleanup deadline, including when a terminal\noperation rejects. Terminal `close`, `accept`, `reject`, and `abort` operations\nare serialized so cleanup and disposer ownership cannot race.\n\nCustom targets carrying streams must supply the exact creator transport and\nsupport parent cancellation:\n\n```typescript\nconst target = new TypedTarget({\n  virtualStreamTransport,\n  supportsAbortSignal: true,\n  postMethod: sendRequest,\n});\n```\n\nResponse caching is unavailable for requests containing stream descriptors.\nThe initial request deadline also bounds response stream staging. Every\n`openVirtualStream()` call is capped at 10 seconds by the package, and\n`decodePayloadFromNetworkAsync()` accepts an absolute `openDeadlineAt` override\nbased on `performance.now()`. All descriptors in one graph share that deadline;\neach sequential transport call receives only the remaining budget.\nThe stream transport owns the subsequent physical OPEN and terminal lifecycle.\nCreator operations may wait boundedly for the descriptor consumer. Its identity-safe disposer is\nidempotent. Resolver selection sees only frozen trusted transport data and runs\nonly after the incoming request authority guard succeeds. The resolved\ntransport is reused for request decoding and response encoding on that route.\n\nDecoding is asynchronous and graph-first. Use\n`await VirtualStream.decodePayloadFromNetworkAsync(payload, commFunctions)`\noutside `TypedRequest` or `TypedRouter`. Standalone decoding authorizes before\nreturning. Every runtime entry includes correlation,\nmethod, direction, phase, timing, and `hasError`, while `payload` is\n`TYPED_REQUEST_REDACTED_PAYLOAD`, `payloadRedacted` is `true`, and `error` is\nomitted. Treat `payloadRedacted` as authoritative; sentinel object identity is\nnot stable across serialization or independently loaded bundles. For source\ncompatibility, `ITypedRequestLogEntry` remains mutable with `payload: any`, and\nthe two new flags are optional so pre-3.8 constructed entries still compile.\nEntries emitted to callbacks always contain both flags and are frozen at\nruntime.\n\n```typescript\nTypedRouter.setGlobalHooks({\n  onOutgoingRequest: (entry) => {\n    console.log(`${entry.method} [${entry.correlationId}]`);\n  },\n  onIncomingResponse: async (entry) => {\n    await metrics.record({\n      method: entry.method,\n      durationMs: entry.durationMs,\n      failed: entry.hasError,\n    });\n  },\n});\n```\n\nPayload or error access requires explicit projector options. Projectors are a\ntrusted boundary: they synchronously receive the live raw value before the\nhook callback receives an independent `structuredClone` snapshot with a\ntop-level freeze. Project only an allowlist rather than returning the complete\npayload. Projections containing `SharedArrayBuffer`, including nested typed\narrays or `DataView` instances backed by one, fail closed to the redacted\nsentinel because cloning them would retain shared mutable memory.\n\n```typescript\nTypedRouter.setGlobalHooks(\n  {\n    onIncomingRequest: (entry) => metrics.trackRequest(entry),\n    onOutgoingResponse: (entry) => metrics.trackResponse(entry),\n  },\n  {\n    payloadProjector: (payload, metadata) => ({\n      phase: metadata.phase,\n      tenantId: (payload as { tenantId?: string }).tenantId,\n    }),\n    errorProjector: (_errorText, metadata) =>\n      metadata.hasError ? 'request failed' : undefined,\n  }\n);\n```\n\nThe `globalHooks` getter/setter and `setGlobalHooks()` remain available.\nAssignments and phases updated without projector options use metadata-only\nredaction; projector options from an earlier callback are never inherited by a\nreplacement callback. Assignment preserves exact object identity, so\n`TypedRouter.globalHooks === hooks` and `router.hooks === hooks` after their\nrespective assignments. Direct callback replacement invalidates projector\noptions unless that exact callback received them. Per-router hooks accept the\nsame optional projector argument through\n`router.setHooks(hooks, projectionOptions)`.\n\nUse `addGlobalHooks()` when independently owned subscribers need the same\nphase. Each subscriber receives its own projection and snapshot. Recipients, callbacks, and projector options are snapshotted\nat dispatch start, so adding, disposing, clearing, or replacing hooks during a\ncallback affects only future entries.
