Bridges stdio to the hosted Asyntai MCP server and handles the OAuth sign-in for you.","maintainers":[{"name":"asyntai","email":"hello@asyntai.com"}],"readme":"# @asyntai/mcp\n\nConnect any MCP client to your [Asyntai](https://asyntai.com) account.\n\nAsyntai puts an AI support agent on your website that answers visitors from\nyour own content. This package gives your assistant the same 54 tools the\nAsyntai dashboard has: add knowledge, edit the agent's instructions, read\nconversations and leads, and reply to a live visitor yourself.\n\n## Do you need this?\n\nProbably not, and that is deliberate.\n\nAsyntai runs a hosted MCP server at `https://asyntai.com/mcp`. If your client\nsupports remote MCP servers, which Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code all do,\nadd that URL directly and skip this package.\n\nThis is for clients that can only launch a local command. It bridges one to the\nother and handles the sign-in.\n\n## Use it\n\n```json\n{\n  \"mcpServers\": {\n    \"asyntai\": {\n      \"command\": \"npx\",\n      \"args\": [\"-y\", \"@asyntai/mcp\"]\n    }\n  }\n}\n```\n\nThe first tool call opens a browser once so you can approve access. After that it is\nsilent. You need an Asyntai account; the free plan works.\n\n## Commands\n\n```bash\nnpx @asyntai/mcp            # run the bridge\nnpx @asyntai/mcp logout     # forget the saved sign-in\nnpx @asyntai/mcp --help\n```\n\n## How it works\n\nIt is a transparent proxy. It reads JSON-RPC messages on stdin, posts them to\nthe hosted server with an `Authorization` header, and writes the replies to\nstdout. It does not know what the tools are or what they return, which is why\nnew tools on the server work here without a new release.\n\nSign-in is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, the same flow Claude and ChatGPT use. No API\nkey is ever entered. The endpoints are read from the server's published\nmetadata rather than hard-coded, so a route change on the server does not\nbreak this package.\n\n## Where the sign-in is kept\n\n`~/.asyntai/mcp-credentials.json`, with owner-only permissions where the\noperating system supports them. It holds an access token and a refresh token\nfor each server you connect to. `logout` removes them.\n\nRevoking from the Asyntai side is at\n[asyntai.com/mcp/connections](https://asyntai.com/mcp/connections/), which\nkills the tokens immediately whatever is on disk.\n\n## Options\n\n| Variable | Meaning |\n| --- | --- |\n| `ASYNTAI_MCP_URL` | Point at a different server. Defaults to `https://asyntai.com/mcp`. |\n\nDiagnostics go to stderr. stdout carries the protocol and nothing else.\n\n## Development\n\n```bash\nnpm test\n```\n\nNo dependencies, and none planned. Node 18 or newer.\n\n## Claude Desktop extension\n\nThe same bridge ships as a Claude Desktop extension (`.mcpb`). Install it from\nthe Extensions directory in Claude Desktop, or build it yourself:\n\n```bash\nnpx @anthropic-ai/mcpb pack\n```\n\n## Privacy Policy\n\nThis bridge stores nothing except the OAuth tokens described above, on your\nown machine. Every message goes only to the Asyntai server you connected to\n(by default `https://asyntai.com/mcp`), which processes it under the\n[Asyntai privacy policy](https://asyntai.com/privacy-policy/). No analytics,\nno third-party services, no telemetry from this package.\n\n## Links\n\n- [Connector documentation](https://asyntai.com/documentation/mcp/)\n- [Privacy policy](https://asyntai.com/privacy-policy/)\n- hello@asyntai.com\n\nMIT.\n","readmeFilename":"README.md"}
