Both systems share the same SQLite database.\n\n## How It Works\n\nInstead of batch post-hoc transcript analysis, this uses **inline reflection** — Claude generates performance facets during the conversation while it has full context.\n\n```\nYou (in Claude.ai Desktop): \"reflect on this session\"\n  → Claude generates facet JSON (full conversation context)\n  → Claude calls save_facet tool → validated + stored in SQLite\n  → Periodically: run_analysis → processes facets → proposes memory updates\n  → update_memory → persistent lessons updated\n```\n\n## Quick Start\n\n### 1. Install\n\n```bash\ncd mcp-server\nnpm install\n```\n\nOr from npm:\n\n```bash\nnpm install -g @bachillah/claude-improve-mcp\n```\n\n### 2. Initialize\n\n```bash\nnpx claude-improve-mcp init\n```\n\n### 3. Migrate Existing Data (Optional)\n\nIf you already use `claude-self-improve` (the bash script):\n\n```bash\nnpx claude-improve-mcp migrate\n```\n\nImports existing facets and metrics into the shared SQLite database.\n\n### 5. Share Memory with Claude Code (Optional)\n\n```bash\nnpx claude-improve-mcp config set memory_dir \"/path/to/.claude/projects/YOUR_PROJECT/memory\"\n```\n\n## Tools\n\n| Tool | Description |\n|------|-------------|\n| `save_facet` | Save a session performance facet (validates 28-field schema with coercion) |\n| `read_memory` | Read MEMORY.md and list/read topic files |\n| `update_memory` | Apply memory operations (append, create topic file, archive) |\n| `run_analysis` | Assemble unprocessed facets into analysis payload |\n| `save_analysis` | Save analysis results and append metrics |\n| `recall` | FTS5 search past sessions by query |\n| `get_metrics` | Return metrics history and trend summary |\n\n## Storage\n\nData stored in SQLite at `~/.claude-improve/facets.db`:\n- **facets** table — 20 columns, FTS5 indexed for fast search\n- **metrics** table — time-series performance data\n- **analysis_runs** table — analysis history\n\nBoth the bash script and MCP server read/write the same database.\n\n## Schema Compatibility\n\nThe facet schema (28 fields), validation logic, coercion maps, all 6 prompt files, MEMORY.md format, and metrics format are 100% identical to the bash system.
