It caches the catalog for an hour (`~/.cache/claude-skills/`) and falls back to the copy bundled in the package when you're offline or GitHub is unreachable.\n\n| Variable | Effect |\n|---|---|\n| `CLAUDE_SKILLS_OFFLINE=1` | Use only the bundled catalog (no network call for the catalog) |\n| `CLAUDE_SKILLS_CACHE_DIR` | Cache location (default `$XDG_CACHE_HOME/claude-skills` or `~/.cache/claude-skills`) |\n| `CLAUDE_SKILLS_CATALOG_URL` | Alternative catalog URL, e.g. a fork |\n\nSkill files are always downloaded from `main`.\n\n## Lockfile\n\nInstalled skills are tracked in `.claude-skills.json` in the current directory. This file records what's installed, which target, and version, so `update` and `remove` work cleanly.\n\n## Requirements\n\nNode.js 18 or later.
