No database access.\n\n## Tools\n\n| Tool | What it does |\n|---|---|\n| `list_brands` | Your tracked brands + each one's latest visibility score |\n| `get_visibility` | A brand's blended score, per-engine + SEO/AEO/GEO axes, competitor SOV |\n| `get_playbook` | The prioritized fixes from the brand's latest scan |\n| `run_audit` | Start a full audit on a business, wait for it, return score + SEO/AEO/GEO + top fix + report link |\n| `get_audit` | Check an audit by `auditId` (if `run_audit` timed out) |\n| `get_report_url` | Get a brand's public shareable report link (no new audit) |\n| `test_connection` | Verify the setup: reachable? key valid? scope, plan, and brand allowance |\n\n> `run_audit` starts a **paid** scan, so it needs an **audit-scope** key. `list_brands`,\n> `get_visibility`, `get_playbook`, and `get_report_url` work with a read-only key too.\n\n> **Not a developer?** Follow the plain-language walkthrough at **`/connect-claude`** in the\n> app — it covers Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor with screenshots-free copy/paste steps.\n\n## Publishing (required for the `npx` setup to work)\n\nThe config below uses `npx -y @brandradar/mcp-brandradar`, which only resolves once the\npackage is on npm. Until then users must run it from a local checkout (see *Run locally*).\n\n```bash\nnpm publish --workspace @brandradar/mcp-brandradar   # runs `build` via prepublishOnly\n```\n\nRequires ownership of the `@brandradar` npm scope. If you don't own it, rename the package\n(e.g. `brandradar-mcp`) and update the docs + the snippet in `ApiKeyCard.tsx`.\n\n## Setup\n\n1. Create an API key: **Settings → Integrations → BrandRadar API & MCP** — pick a scope\n   (**audit** to run scans, or **read-only**) and **Generate key** (Agency plan or higher). Copy it once.\n2. Register the server in your MCP client's config (e.g. `.mcp.json` or Claude Desktop):\n\n```json\n{\n  \"mcpServers\": {\n    \"brandradar\": {\n      \"command\": \"npx\",\n      \"args\": [\"-y\", \"@brandradar/mcp-brandradar\"],\n      \"env\": {\n        \"BRANDRADAR_API_KEY\": \"brsk_live_…\",\n        \"BRANDRADAR_API_URL\": \"https://app.brandradar.ai\"\n      }\n    }\n  }\n}\n```\n\n`BRANDRADAR_API_URL` defaults to `https://app.brandradar.ai`; set it for self-hosted or local (`http://localhost:3100`).\n\n## Verify the setup\n\nRun the connection check straight from a terminal — no MCP client needed. This is the\nfastest way to tell a bad key from a wrong URL from a client that never started the server:\n\n```bash\nBRANDRADAR_API_KEY=brsk_live_… BRANDRADAR_API_URL=https://app.brandradar.ai \\\n  npx -y @brandradar/mcp-brandradar --check\n```\n\nExits `0` when connected (printing workspace, plan, key scope, brand allowance, engines)\nand `1` with a specific reason + next steps when not. Inside a chat, the same check is the\n`test_connection` tool — just ask *\"test my BrandRadar connection\"*.\n\n## Run locally (or before publishing)\n\n```bash\nBRANDRADAR_API_KEY=brsk_live_… BRANDRADAR_API_URL=http://localhost:3100 pnpm --filter @brandradar/mcp-brandradar start\n```\n\nTo point an MCP client at a local checkout instead of npm, build once and reference the\noutput directly:\n\n```bash\npnpm --filter @brandradar/mcp-brandradar build\n```\n\n```json\n{\n  \"mcpServers\": {\n    \"brandradar\": {\n      \"command\": \"node\",\n      \"args\": [\"/absolute/path/to/brand-radar/tools/mcp-brandradar/dist/index.js\"],\n      \"env\": {\n        \"BRANDRADAR_API_KEY\": \"brsk_live_…\",\n        \"BRANDRADAR_API_URL\": \"http://localhost:3100\"\n      }\n    }\n  }\n}\n```\n","readmeFilename":"README.md","_rev":"1-416938935127bc2d5af7a7c3ccaea23c"}
