The IMF's true estimate/actual cut-over (its `estimatesStartAfter` vintage marker) typically runs **a year or two earlier**, so recent years this lane reports as history may already be **IMF *estimates*, not observed outturns**. Treat near-present figures accordingly; the DataMapper API does not expose the per-series boundary, so we approximate it. Forward years are IMF WEO projections either way.\n- **Nigeria only:** every series is `country: \"NGA\"`. The trailing country segment on the upstream endpoint does not actually filter, so the adapter indexes the NGA slice itself.\n- **Series are cached ~6h** (WEO vintages update ~twice a year) — cuts repeat pulls of the large payload. 15s fetch timeout with backoff-retry on transient failures; falls back to an actionable error (or set `IMF_PROVIDER=mock`).\n- **`value: null`** appears for years the WEO reports no figure — points are kept in order rather than dropped.\n- **Source:** records carry `source: \"imf\"` and a fresh `retrievedAt` per call.\n\n## Verification\n`npm run verify` (repo root) → build + all lane smokes + eval.
