Uses [Microsoft Learn](https://learn.microsoft.com) documentation via MCP as the primary source, with web search fallback. Works in **Claude Code CLI and Claude Desktop** — plugins sync automatically between both.\n\n## What it does\n\n- Answers technical questions about Azure, M365, Security, Power Platform, Developer Tools, and Windows infrastructure\n- Routes questions to domain specialist agents, running parallel lookups for cross-domain questions\n- Cites official Microsoft documentation with confidence ratings (High/Medium/Low)\n- Saves session summaries on demand via `/ms-sme:log`\n- Optionally saves a session marker on close (configure with `autoLoggingEnabled`)\n\n## Prerequisites\n\n| Requirement | Minimum version | Install |\n|---|---|---|\n| Claude Code CLI | Latest | [claude.ai/code](https://claude.ai/code) |\n| Node.js | ≥18 | [nodejs.org](https://nodejs.org/) |\n\n## Install\n\n**Option 1 — npx from GitHub (recommended, no npm account needed):**\n\n```bash\nnpx github:caminoalto/ms-sme-plugin\n```\n\n**Option 2 — register as a marketplace and install by name:**\n\n```bash\nclaude plugin marketplace add caminoalto https://raw.githubusercontent.com/caminoalto/ms-sme-plugin/main/marketplace.json\nclaude plugin install ms-sme@caminoalto\n```\n\n**Option 3 — clone and install locally:**\n\n```bash\ngit clone https://github.com/caminoalto/ms-sme-plugin\nnpx ./ms-sme-plugin\n```\n\n**Option 4 — npx from npm (once the package is published):**\n\n```bash\nnpx @caminoalto/ms-sme\n```\n\nTo publish: `npm publish --access public` from the repo root (requires an npm account and `npm login`).\n\n## First-run verification\n\nStart a new Claude Code session (or reload Claude Desktop) and ask a Microsoft technology question:\n\n> \"What is the difference between Azure Private Endpoints and Service Endpoints?\"\n\nThe ms-sme agent should respond with a structured answer, source URLs, and a confidence rating.\n\nTo verify the log command works:\n\n```\n/ms-sme:log\n```\n\n## Usage\n\n**Ask any Microsoft technology question.** The plugin activates automatically in every session. Examples:\n\n> \"How do I configure Conditional Access in Entra ID?\"\n>\n> \"What Power Automate connectors support Dataverse?\"\n>\n> \"Walk me through setting up a Windows Server Failover Cluster.\"\n\n**Save a session summary:**\n\n```\n/ms-sme:log\n```\n\nSaves a structured markdown summary (topic, key questions, answers, action items, sources) to the plugin data directory.\n\n## Configuration\n\nConfigure using the Claude Code CLI:\n\n```bash\n# Enable auto session markers on close\nclaude plugin config ms-sme autoLoggingEnabled true\n\n# Set a custom log directory (e.g. OneDrive)\nclaude plugin config ms-sme logDir \"/Users/yourname/OneDrive/ms-sme-logs\"\n```\n\n| Setting | Type | Default | Description |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| `autoLoggingEnabled` | boolean | `false` | Save a session marker file when each Claude Code session ends |\n| `logDir` | string | plugin data directory | Where session marker files are written. Accepts an absolute path. |\n\n> **Note on auto-logging:** When enabled, a brief session marker is saved on close — it records the timestamp but does not contain conversation content. Use `/ms-sme:log` during a session for a full structured summary with questions, answers, and source references.\n\n## Claude Desktop\n\nPlugins sync automatically between Claude Code CLI and Claude Desktop. Once installed via `npx @caminoalto/ms-sme`, the plugin is available in both interfaces. No separate configuration is needed.\n\n> Plugins are not available in Claude Desktop remote sessions.\n\n## Update\n\n```bash\nnpx github:caminoalto/ms-sme-plugin\n```\n\nRe-running the install command updates to the latest version.\n\n## Uninstall\n\n```bash\nclaude plugin uninstall ms-sme\n```\n\n## MCP server note\n\nThis plugin uses `@microsoft/learn-mcp@latest` to access Microsoft Learn documentation. Specialist agents fall back to web search automatically if the MCP server is unavailable. To verify the MCP server works: `npx -y @microsoft/learn-mcp@latest --help`. Check the [Microsoft Learn MCP repository](https://github.com/microsoft/learn-mcp) for the current package name if needed.\n\n## Out of scope\n\n- Non-Microsoft technology questions — the agent will politely decline\n- Real-time data (Azure service health, live pricing) — use the Azure portal or Microsoft 365 admin centre\n- Writing or executing code — this is a Q&A knowledge tool\n","readmeFilename":"README.md","_rev":"1-9359fe0f71777589eaf74b1320a034f4"}
