headless acceptance suite against a LIVE cat-factory\ndeployment.** Real agents, real model spend, real pull requests: the kind of test that proves a\ndeployment's own providers, agent kinds, gates and pipelines work end to end, on the deployment an\noperator actually runs.\n\nThe platform's own suite (`backend/internal/acceptance`) is built from this package and is the\nworked example. Your suite names the frames and the leftovers.        |\n| `pass.ts`           | The pass itself: banner, scenarios, summary, closing words, exit code, and the boundary that reports a bug in the suite without losing the resume.                                                                                              |\n\nOne further module is a SEPARATE entry point, `@cat-factory/acceptance-kit/console-credential`, so\nthe base package stays free of terminal code: `createConsoleCredential()` builds the\n`CredentialRetry` half of the seam for a suite whose models run on a person's own subscription,\npaired with the request header it fills. Hand them to the pass.\nprocess.exitCode = await runPass({\n  identity,\n  target: baseUrl,\n  ledger,\n  journal,\n  scenarios: [shipsAFeature],\n  gate: () => prerequisites.assert(),\n  log: (message) => console.log(message),\n  recordsFacts: () => recordsFacts(ledger.value, LEDGER_SLOTS),\n})\n```\n\n## The rules the kit is built to\n\nEach is a property somebody debugged into existence, and each is why a module here is shaped the way\nit is rather than the obvious way.\n\n1. **Refuse before spending, with the fix attached.** A prerequisite is evaluated before EVERY gated\n   scenario, not once at the start: a resumed pass begins wherever it stopped, and a budget can be\n   spent mid-pass. Every negative verdict carries numbered steps and, where one exists, a pasteable\n   command built from what the check just READ.\n2. **\"Unmet\" and \"could not be read\" are different answers.** A probe that failed is not evidence\n   about the thing probed, and reporting it as one sends an operator to fix the wrong thing.\n3. **Assert on evidence the platform COMPUTED, never on agent prose.** Grepping a coder's reply\n   tests the model's phrasing; swap the model and it goes red having found nothing wrong.\n4. **Never auto-answer a decision the suite was not designed for, or one that is in FLIGHT.** A loop\n   that settles whatever it finds produces a green suite that proves nothing.\n5. **A wait that expires states its last observation, and what the pass left standing.** \"Timed out\n   after 5400000ms\" is true and useless; \"step 3 `coder` was still working, 4/9 subtasks\" separates a\n   parked run from a wedged one from a slow one. The second half is the `epilogue`, required on every\n   wait a started run spends its hours in: without it an operator is not told the run, its pull\n   request and any provisioned namespace are still there, and they start a second pass that the\n   leftovers then refuse.\n6. **Report every failing claim, not just the first.** A pass costs an afternoon.\n7. **Record an external RESOURCE before anything can observe it, and release it only when the\n   provider agrees.** A teardown needs the provider's own id plus whatever the provision captured,\n   and neither can be re-derived from the deployment or the repository, so a pass killed between the\n   provision returning and the first status poll leaks a machine nothing on disk can name. An\n   accepted delete is not a completed one. `resource.ts` is this rule; `PassOptions.onSettled` is\n   where its reclaim report goes, so what is still standing lands INSIDE the closing words.\n8. **A suite cannot re-create a run's own pull-request environment afterwards.** The merger deletes\n   the head branch on merge when it is under the `cat-factory/` prefix, so an environment requested\n   by pull-request number resolves a ref the provider no longer has. An environment claim about a\n   pull request is read off the run's REPORT (`checkEphemeralEnvironment`); a claim about the\n   MERGED code is provisioned fresh from the default branch. Neither half can cover both.\n\n9. **The create itself is the one window a client cannot close, so the pass SAYS which side of it\n   the failure fell on.** `fileAndDrive` records a task id on the line after the create, which is as\n   early as any client can: if the create's response is lost in transit, the deployment may have made\n   the row and the id never reaches the caller, so nothing is recorded and the next pass files a\n   second task. That is the same rule as 7 meeting the one state a client cannot observe itself\n   entering, and it is not fixable by reordering: closing it needs a caller-supplied idempotency key\n   on the `/api/v1` writes that cost real work, which is a permanent shape on a frozen surface and a\n   decision of its own. What is fixable is the guessing. A create that failed before any origin\n   accepted the request created nothing and a re-run is clean; one that died under the request, timed\n   out or came back unreadable may have filed a task with no run started and no budget spent, and\n   that one is a refusal telling an operator to look at the board first. The SDK's connection\n   diagnosis is what makes the two separable, and what the account attached to the refusal actually\n   PROVES is said per cause: an origin history is a claim only the connection error carries, and a\n   gateway's own 502 describes the wrong party.\n\n   **What bounds the window is what the request was, not where the code that failed sat.** Two\n   narrowings keep it honest, because both were got wrong by reading it as \"whatever `createTask`\n   threw\". Only a failure the SDK raised about a call it MADE is classified, so a brief over the\n   description cap and a bug in the suite are reported as themselves rather than as a task that may\n   be on the board. And anything the request body has to be READ from goes in `prepareTask`, which\n   runs before the window opens and is still skipped entirely when there is a task to adopt: an\n   evidence read composing a description fails exactly the ways a create does, and nothing has been\n   filed when it fails.\n\n10. **A reset PLANS before it deletes, and the plan is what the apply carries out.** Clearing a\n    board deletes real service frames, real tasks and real run history on a board somebody may share,\n    so the preview is the safety property and `--yes` is the whole of the opt-in. Three of the rules\n    under it fail quietly rather than loudly, which is why `reset.ts` owns them: unfinished tasks go\n    before their frame (the frame delete refuses over them, deliberately) while finished ones ride its\n    cascade; a pass's ledger is never removed while a frame it names is still standing, because that\n    ledger is the only thing mapping the frame back to a resumable run id; and the `latest` pointer\n    goes both when it names a pass being removed and when it names nothing at all, since a dangling\n    pointer outlives every ledger and then resolves a resume onto an empty state directory. A `404`\n    is an outcome rather than a failure: something else got there first.\n\n## Seams\n\nFour things the kit deliberately does NOT decide, because only a suite can:\n\n- **`Prerequisite`**: what a deployment must have wired to run YOUR pass. The kit ships no list; a\n  fixed one would refuse over things a deployment testing its own agent kinds has no use for.\n- **`Scenario`**: the work itself, and the order.\n- **`SuiteIdentity`**: the commands and variables a refusal quotes.\n- **`CredentialRetry`**: what to do when the deployment answers `428` because a model is a per-user\n  subscription. The kit names the two writes where that can happen and never holds the credential.\n  Required on the drive path rather than defaulted, for the reason `gated` is: a suite whose models\n  all run on the deployment's own keys passes `passThroughCredentialRetry`, which says so in code,\n  where an omission says nothing and surfaces as a pass dying at a `428` after an afternoon of spend.\n  The OTHER branch is `@cat-factory/acceptance-kit/console-credential`, opt-in by import.\n\nA reset adds three more of the same kind, on `planReset`: `target` (which frames this\nconfiguration is asking about, and in whose words), `ledgerServiceIds` (which of your own facts name\na frame) and `leftovers` (what a reset does not reclaim, which is per suite by nature). The kit owns\nthe ordering, the retention rule, the pointer rule and the two formatters; it never guesses what a\npass created. Whatever else your command takes is declared to `parseResetArgs` as `flags` and handed\nback un-interpreted; it REFUSES, loudly and on every invocation, a name it acts on itself (`--yes`,\n`-y`, `--all`) or one spelled without its dashes, because either would have your flag read as absent\nwhile the parser's own meaning ran in its place.\n\n**CONFIGURATION is the fifth thing the kit does not decide**, and it is listed apart because half of\nit is not a seam at all. Reading your own configuration is yours; ASSEMBLING it is a `.env` write,\nand the five ways to get that subtly wrong are each a silent failure (the command reports success\nand the file means something else).
