Gemini plans         → populates .memory-bank/ and .specs/\n         ↓\n   You review + approve\n         ↓\n2. Claude Code executes → reads state, builds block, sets in-review\n         ↓\n   You trigger Codex\n         ↓\n3. Codex verifies       → checks against spec, writes pass/fail\n         ↓\n   Pass → block marked done\n   Fail → fix.md updated, you re-run Claude Code\n         ↓\n4. Repeat per block\n```\n\n**Key rule:** Only Codex marks blocks `done`. Only you advance phases. Claude Code never self-approves.\n\n## Block status lifecycle\n\n```\nplanned → in-progress → in-review → done\n                              ↓ (if fail)\n                          need-fix → in-progress → in-review → done\n```\n\n## If .memory-bank/ already exists\n\n`massp init` detects it and skips the static files (`projectBrief.md`, etc.). It only writes the live state files (`activeContext.md`, `progress.md`) and the new `.agent-state/` folder.
