Useful for debugging, readability, and working with JSON data in Claude Desktop and other MCP-compatible tools.\n\n## Installation\n\nYou can use this server instantly without installation via npx:\n\nnpx @dennisk2025/json-prettifier\n\nOr, install it globally:\n\nnpm install -g @dennisk2025/json-prettifier\n\n## Adding to Claude Desktop\n\nAdd the following to your Claude Desktop config file at:\n- macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json\n- Windows: %APPDATA%\\Claude\\claude_desktop_config.json\n\nExample configuration:\n\n```json\n{\n  \"mcpServers\": {\n    \"jsonprettifier\": {\n      \"command\": \"npx\",\n      \"args\": [\"@dennisk2025/json-prettifier\"]\n    }\n  }\n}\n```\n\n## Usage\n\nAfter Claude launches, type `/jsonprettifier` and you will have access to the following tool:\n\n### Tool: prettify-json\n\n- **Description:** Takes a JSON string and formats it with the specified indentation level.\n\n#### Parameters\n- `json_string` (string, required): The minified or raw JSON string to format.\n- `indent` (integer, optional, default=2): Number of spaces to use for indentation (0 returns the most compact form, maximum 8).\n\n#### Example\n\n**Input:**\n\nTool name: `prettify-json`\n\nArguments:\n\n```json\n{\n  \"json_string\": \"{\\\"hello\\\":\\\"world\\\",\\\"foo\\\":[1,2,3]}\",\n  \"indent\": 4\n}\n```\n\n**Result:**\n\n```\n{\n    \"hello\": \"world\",\n    \"foo\": [\n        1,\n        2,\n        3\n    ]\n}\n```\n\n### Error handling\nIf invalid JSON is supplied, the tool returns a clear error message (\"Failed to parse JSON ...\").\nIf you supply an argument outside the allowed indent range, it defaults to 2 spaces.\n\n## Full Tool List\n\n- **prettify-json**\n  - Parameters:\n    - `json_string` (string, required): The minified or raw JSON string to format.\n    - `indent` (integer, optional, default=2, min=0, max=8): Indent spaces.\n  - Returns: Formatted, pretty-printed JSON as text.\n","readmeFilename":"README.md","_rev":"1-7edb0e9cefa298616807ecf0d98c9cbe"}
