Self-improvement

The improve extension lets an agent turn "change how you work" into a change to its own source. The agent writes a brief, a Cursor cloud agent edits a checkout and opens a pull request, and the agent reports the pull request.

Mount it

Mount Cloud agents with the agent's own repository in cloud.repos, then mount improve with its source directory.

ts
// bot/extensions/cloud.ts
import cursorCloudAgents from "@grok/agent-sdk/extensions/cursor-cloud-agents";

export default cursorCloudAgents({
  cloud: {
    repos: [{ url: "https://github.com/acme/agents", startingRef: "main" }],
    autoCreatePR: true,
  },
});
ts
// bot/extensions/improve.ts
import improve from "@grok/agent-sdk/extensions/improve";

export default improve({
  repo: "https://github.com/acme/agents",
  path: "agents/concierge",
  ref: "main",
});

improve adds the improve__yourself skill and no tools.

Ask for one change

Say what to change, how to tell it worked, and what must not change.

Improve yourself. Stop opening incident replies with a summary. Start with the decision, keep the existing evidence bullets, and preserve every current eval.

The agent launches one cloud agent and reports its URL. When the pull request opens, the agent tells you what changed and which checks passed.

Review, merge, then deploy

The agent can open a pull request, but it can't merge or deploy. Someone on your team reviews and merges it, and the change goes live on your next deploy. Afterward, repeat the original request to confirm the change.

Configure it

  • repo is the source repository URL.
  • path is the agent's directory in that repository.
  • ref is the branch new pull requests target, main by default.
  • notes adds guidance to every brief, such as a required test command.
  • deploy tells the skill who deploys a merged change and when.

Validation checks only the shape of repo and path, so make sure they match the deployed agent and cloud.repos.
