To persist values JSON cannot restore (`Date`, `Map`, custom classes…), pass a codec like [devalue](https://github.com/sveltejs/devalue):\n\n```ts\nimport { parse, stringify } from 'devalue'\n\nPiniaColadaCachePersister({\n stringify,\n parse,\n})\n```\n\nThe object handed to `stringify`, and expected back from `parse`, maps each query key hash to a `[data, error, when, meta]` tuple, where `when` is the local time (`Date.now()`) of its last fetch. Because that timestamp is absolute, an entry restored days later is correctly stale and refetches on mount instead of being served as fresh.\n\nPersistence is best-effort: if serializing or restoring the cache throws, the plugin skips that write or read instead of crashing. Pass `onStringifyError`/`onParseError` to observe those failures.\n\n## Filtering Queries\n\nOnly persist specific queries using a filter:\n\n```ts\nPiniaColadaCachePersister({\n filter: { key: ['users'] }, // Only persist queries starting with 'users'\n})\n```\n\nOr use a predicate function:\n\n```ts\nPiniaColadaCachePersister({\n filter: {\n predicate: (entry) => entry.key[0] === 'important',\n },\n})\n```\n\n## Async Storage\n\nWorks with async storage backends like IndexedDB, compatible with [unstorage](https://github.com/unjs/unstorage):\n\n```ts\nimport { get, set } from 'idb-keyval'\n\nPiniaColadaCachePersister({\n storage: {\n getItem: (key) => get(key),\n setItem: (key, value) => set(key, value),\n },\n})\n```\n\n## Handling Errors\n\nTwo errors can happen and are recoverable:\n\n- `onStringifyError` — `JSON.stringify` failed while persisting, e.g. on non-serializable data. The cache is not persisted this time.\n- `onParseError` — `JSON.parse` failed while restoring, e.g. on corrupt data. The cache starts fresh and is overwritten on the next successful persist.\n\nA handler you pass is always called, in development and production. With no handler, the error is logged with `console.error` in development only.
