It is not\nintended to be a general-purpose build utility.\n\n## Lint\n\nRun `hut-build lint` in your project directory to lint all the source files\nusing JSHint. See the `jshint.json` file for the JSHint settings.\n\n## Test\n\nWrite tests in the `test.js` file in your project directory. Tests must output\nTAP-compatible output to the console. Run the tests using `hut-build test`. This\nlints the source files and runs the tests on all supported browsers (see the\n`browser.json` file).\n\nTests are run on [Sauce Labs](http://saucelabs.com/) browsers. The `SAUCE_USER`\nand `SAUCE_KEY` environment variables must be set to your Sauce Labs username\nand key, respectively.\n\nSee [Serve Locally](#serve-locally) for directions on serving the test files\nlocally.\n\n## Build\n\nWhen writing an HTML/CSS/JS module, you can use the `hut-build build` command.\nWrite an example using your module in the `example` directory inside of your\nproject directory. Include an `index.html` file for the HTML page. You can also\ninclude an `example.js` file that will be bundled with Browserify and an\n`example.css` that will be processed with Rework. Reference the `example.js` and\n`example.css` files from `index.html` file when using them.\n\nWhen running `hut-build build`, the processed files (`index.html`, `example.js`,\nand `example.css`) will be written to the `example/build` folder.\n\n## Serve Locally\n\nWhen developing, it is a pain to always run `hut-build build`. To serve the\nfiles locally, run `hut-build serve`. This will serve the processed example\nfiles at `http://localhost:8000/example/`. Specify the port to use with the\n`--port` argument and enable source maps for JS with the `--debug` flag.\n\nThis also serves the JS tests. Run the tests at `http://localhost:8000/test/`.\nThe console output will be shown on the page.\n\n## Project Structure\n\nThe project structure expected by `hut-build`:\n\n```\nmy-project\n - example         # A directory containing an example using the project\n   - index.html    # Example HTML file\n   - example.js    # Example JS file\n   - example.css   # Example CSS file\n   - build         # A directory containing the built files\n     - index.html  # Copied from example/index.html\n     - example.css # Processed by rework\n     - example.js  # Processed by browserify\n - test.js         # The JS test file, must use TAP output to console\n - package.json    # The package.json file needed for NPM\n```\n\nThe `test.js` and `example/example.js` files will be processed by\n[Browserify](https://github.com/substack/node-browserify). The\n`example/example.css` file will be processed by\n[Rework](https://github.com/visionmedia/rework), using\n[rework-vars](https://github.com/visionmedia/rework-vars) and\n[rework-npm](https://github.com/conradz/rework-npm).","readmeFilename":"README.md","_id":"hut-build@0.1.0","dist":{"shasum":"e3aedab7faeb00fe210befeae3210314f6de009c","tarball":"https://registry.npmjs.org/hut-build/-/hut-build-0.1.0.tgz","integrity":"sha512-Ho3fY8vRm5e47ryhekEkc655oD6/n4G63RmPEL4ipNaR4zxDqXeJvKGyq+aCGrBuCjZtlSX3vLXAsg90hhGBtg==","signatures":[{"keyid":"SHA256:jl3bwswu80PjjokCgh0o2w5c2U4LhQAE57gj9cz1kzA","sig":"MEYCIQCvm2vkKUk9UmiCSLAGbNkAPEH3zV0rpOiakT1yppj9/wIhAJf3vLXYn/hJA8NV1I7cY3GNPTJ2t+gnNV7crNmoIul7"}]},"_from":".","_npmVersion":"1.3.2","_npmUser":{"name":"conradz","email":"me@conradz.com"},"maintainers":[{"name":"conradz","email":"me@conradz.com"}]},"0.1.1":{"name":"hut-build","version":"0.1.1","description":"HTML UI Toolkit build tool","main":"index.js","scripts":{"test":"tap test.js"},"bin":{"hut-build":"bin/hut-build"},"repository":{"type":"git","url":"https://github.com/conradz/hut-build.git"},"keywords":["build","hut","browser"],"author":{"name":"Conrad Zimmerman","email":"me@conradz.com"},"license":"BSD","bugs":{"url":"https://github.com/conradz/hut-build/issues"},"dependencies":{"nomnom":"~1.6.1","express":"~3.4.0","mkdirp":"~0.3.5","browserify":"~2.29.1","build-jshint":"0.0.3","serve-script":"0.0.4","through":"~2.3.4","rework-vars":"~1.0.1","rework-npm":"0.0.2","rework":"~0.18.1","async":"~0.2.9","sauce-tap-runner":"0.0.4"},"devDependencies":{"tap":"~0.4.4","request":"~2.27.0","tape":"~1.1.0"},"readme":"# hut-build\n\n[![NPM](https://nodei.co/npm/hut-build.png?compact=true)](https://nodei.co/npm/hut-build/)\n\n[![Build Status](https://drone.io/github.com/conradz/hut-build/status.png)](https://drone.io/github.com/conradz/hut-build/latest)\n[![Dependency Status](https://gemnasium.com/conradz/hut-build.png)](https://gemnasium.com/conradz/hut-build)\n\nHTML UI Toolkit build tool.\n\nThis tool is custom-made for the HTML UI Toolkit (`hut`) packages. Include an `index.html` file for the HTML page. You can also\ninclude an `example.js` file that will be bundled with Browserify and an\n`example.css` that will be processed with Rework. Reference the `example.js` and\n`example.css` files from `index.html` file when using them.\n\nWhen running `hut-build build`, the processed files (`index.html`, `example.js`,\nand `example.css`) will be written to the `example/build` folder.\n\n## Serve Locally\n\nWhen developing, it is a pain to always run `hut-build build`. To serve the\nfiles locally, run `hut-build serve`. This will serve the processed example\nfiles at `http://localhost:8000/example/`. Specify the port to use with the\n`--port` argument and enable source maps for JS with the `--debug` flag.\n\nThis also serves the JS tests. It is not\nintended to be a general-purpose build utility.\n\n## Lint\n\nRun `hut-build lint` in your project directory to lint all the source files\nusing JSHint. See the `jshint.json` file for the JSHint settings.\n\n## Test\n\nWrite tests in the `test.js` file in your project directory. Tests must output\nTAP-compatible output to the console. Run the tests using `hut-build test`. This\nlints the source files and runs the tests on all supported browsers (see the\n`browser.json` file).\n\nTests are run on [Sauce Labs](http://saucelabs.com/) browsers. The `SAUCE_USER`\nand `SAUCE_KEY` environment variables must be set to your Sauce Labs username\nand key, respectively. When running under [Travis CI](https://travis-ci.org/)\nor [Drone.io](https://drone.io/), the build number is automatically sent to\nSauce Labs to update the\n[status images](https://saucelabs.com/docs/status-images).\n\nSee [Serve Locally](#serve-locally) for directions on serving the test files\nlocally.\n\n## Build\n\nWhen writing an HTML/CSS/JS module, you can use the `hut-build build` command.\nWrite an example using your module in the `example` directory inside of your\nproject directory. Include an `index.html` file for the HTML page. You can also\ninclude an `example.js` file that will be bundled with Browserify and an\n`example.css` that will be processed with Rework. Reference the `example.js` and\n`example.css` files from `index.html` file when using them.\n\nWhen running `hut-build build`, the processed files (`index.html`, `example.js`,\nand `example.css`) will be written to the `build` folder.\n\n## Serve Locally\n\nWhen developing, it is a pain to always run `hut-build build`. To serve the\nfiles locally, run `hut-build serve`. This will serve the processed example\nfiles at `http://localhost:8000/example/`. Specify the port to use with the\n`--port` argument and enable source maps for JS with the `--debug` flag.\n\nThis also serves the JS tests. Run the tests at `http://localhost:8000/test/`.\nThe console output will be shown on the page.\n\n## Project Structure\n\nThe project structure expected by `hut-build`:\n\n```\nmy-project\n - example         # A directory containing an example using the project\n   - index.html    # Example HTML file\n   - example.js    # Example JS file\n   - example.css   # Example CSS file\n   - build         # A directory containing the built files\n - build\n     - index.html  # Copied from example/index.html\n     - example.css # Processed by rework\n     - example.js  # Processed by browserify\n - test.js         # The JS test file, must use TAP output to console\n - package.json    # The package.json file needed for NPM\n```\n\nThe `test.js` and `example/example.js` files will be processed by\n[Browserify](https://github.com/substack/node-browserify). It is not\nintended to be a general-purpose build utility.\n\n## Tests\n\nTests are run and served by the\n[chi-build](https://github.com/conradz/chi-build) package. Running\n`hut-build test` is the same as running `chi-build test`. Running\n`hut-build serve-test` is the same as running `chi-build serve`.\n\n## Serve Examples\n\nTo serve example files run `hut-build serve`. The project must be structured as\nfollows:\n\n```\nmy-project\n - example\n   - index.html\n   - script.js\n   - style.css\n - package.json\n```\n\nThe `index.html` file is an HTML snippet that will be wrapped in a full HTML\ndocument by the server. The generated document automatically adds references to\n`script.js` and `script.css`. The `script.js` file will be bundled by\n[browserify](https://github.com/substack/node-browserify) before being served.\nThe `style.css` will be preprocessed by\n[npm-css](https://github.com/shtylman/npm-css) before being served.\n\nWith the server running, you can browse to `http://localhost:8000/` to see the\nexample. When you refresh the browser, it will automatically recompile the\nsource code in memory.\n\n## Building\n\nTo build the example files to the `dist` folder run `hut-build build`. The\nproject must be structured as described above. The files that would be served by\nthe server (the `index.html`, `script.js`, and `style.css` files) are compiled\nand placed in the `dist` folder.\n\n## API\n\nYou can use the JS API in another script.\n\n## `serve(options)`\n\nStart an HTTP server, the same as running `hut-build serve`. `options` may\ncontain a `port` property (default 8000) which specifies the port for the HTTP\nserver. The example directory must be in the current working directory.\n\n## `app()`\n\nCreates the [connect](https://github.com/senchalabs/connect) app that is used by\n`serve`.\n\n## `build()`\n\nBuild the dist files. Same as running `hut-build build`.","maintainers":[{"name":"conradz","email":"me@conradz.com"}],"time":{"modified":"2022-06-18T23:15:43.678Z","created":"2013-08-21T15:18:46.739Z","0.0.0":"2013-08-21T15:18:49.038Z","0.0.1":"2013-08-21T17:53:42.286Z","0.0.2":"2013-08-22T14:38:13.217Z","0.0.3":"2013-08-22T14:58:07.233Z","0.1.0":"2013-09-09T18:11:37.868Z","0.1.1":"2013-09-09T18:48:05.818Z","0.1.2":"2013-09-10T01:20:46.267Z","0.1.3":"2013-10-02T14:37:22.823Z","0.1.4":"2013-10-03T12:10:15.789Z","0.1.5":"2013-10-03T16:04:43.716Z","0.2.0":"2013-10-31T19:19:29.263Z","0.2.1":"2013-11-23T13:07:52.780Z","0.2.2":"2013-11-26T02:21:56.694Z","0.3.0":"2013-12-10T18:26:14.311Z","0.3.1":"2013-12-10T19:56:07.244Z","0.3.2":"2013-12-12T13:44:01.226Z"},"author":{"name":"Conrad Zimmerman","email":"me@conradz.com"},"repository":{"type":"git","url":"https://github.com/conradz/hut-build.git"}}
