\n\n# Indicative Parser\n> Converts indicative rules and messages schema to a tree\n\n[![circleci-image]][circleci-url] [![npm-image]][npm-url] ![][typescript-image] [![license-image]][license-url]\n\nIndicative parser pre-compiles the Indicative schema to a recursive tree of nodes. Each node is given one of the following types.\n\n- `object`: Node with one or more nested children.\n- `array`: Node with one or more index or wildcard based nested children.\n- `literal`: The leaf nodes.\n\nDo note, that the `literal` **type is not equal to literal values in Javascript**. However, the same schema needs to be parsed to execute the validation rules.\n\n```js\n{\n username: 'required',\n 'account.type': 'required|in:email,social'\n}\n```\n\nOne way is to loop over the schema object keys, split them by `.` and then inline execute the validations for each field. This process is very straight forward, but will have performance issues.\n\nInstead, we pre-compile the schema (later cache it) and generate a tree, which is easier to reason about and then generated optimized functions from the parsed tree.\n\n## Usage\nInstall the package from npm registry as follows:\n\n```sh\nnpm i indicative-parser@alpha\n\n# yarn\nyarn add indicative-parser@alpha\n```\n\nand then use it as follows:\n\n```js\nimport { rulesParser } from 'indicative-parser'\n\nrulesParser({\n username: 'required',\n 'account.type': 'required|in:email,social'\n})\n```\n\nAbove code outputs Each node is given one of the following types.\n\n- `object`: Node with one or more nested children.\n- `array`: Node with one or more index or wildcard based nested children.\n- `literal`: The leaf nodes.\n\nDo note, that the `literal` **type is not equal to literal values in Javascript**.
