got this crazy idea of making every class, property and method emitted through reflect-metadata when compiling a trypescript code.\nLong story short I did some research and didn't find a good solution, but figured out that I could use **nest build**, of [@nestjs/cli](https://github.com/nestjs/nest-cli), to manipulate the code before compiling it, so I did.\n\nThis is a working in progress, though, and I'd love to get some suggestions or contributions.\n\n## But why?\n\nThere're some situations where having access to every class metadata during runtime is quite useful. Let's say you have an application separated in layers: domain, application, infrastructure, and so son, but you fill up your domain with nestjs, inversify, or tsyringe decorators, or even mongoose, but you want to do a external reference free domain layer. If you have the metadata, it's possible to create all these classes decorations programmatically at infrastructure layer!\n\nLet's say you're using @nestjs/swagger, and you have to put in every property the @ApiProperty decorator, even though you don't specify nothing special. Having all de metadata emitted, you can create a decorator where you just decorate the class, and automatizes the decoration of all the properties!\n\n## How to use it?\n\nAs I said, this is a @nestjs/cli plugin, so you need to use nest build to compile your solution. There's no problem if you're not using nestjs in anything else, the nest build can be used stand alone.\n\nNow, to use this plugin, do the following steps:\n\n* Install the plugin:\n\n```\n  npm i -D nestjs-auto-reflect-metadata-emitter\n```\n\n* Add the plugin in the **.nest-cli.json**\n\n```json\n  \"compilerOptions\": {\n    \"plugins\": [\n      \"nestjs-auto-reflect-metadata-emitter/plugin\"\n    ]\n  }\n```\n\n* Make sure tsconfig is set with the following properties:\n\n```ts\n    \"emitDecoratorMetadata\": true,\n    \"experimentalDecorators\": true,\n```\n\n* Use, at least, **typescript 5.3.3**.\n* Compile your application using nest build, and test it using nest start\n\n## How to access metadata\n\nMetadata of all classes is accessible through the method **getClassMetadata**, where you just need to inform the class which you want the metadata of.\nYou can also iterate over all metadata registered through **iterateMetadata**.\nFinally, metadata may be a sensitive data of your application, so, you can erase all its information using **clearAllMetadata**. We recommend you to do so, if you use this library, don't keep any hard logic depending on what this package will register, just construct whenever you need and clear it all at the end.\n\n## How to use it with Jest?\n\nYou can set the transformer of this library to run with jest following the example below:\n\n```json\n\"transform\": {\n      \"^.+\\\\.(t|j)s$\": [\n        \"ts-jest\",\n        {\n          \"astTransformers\": {\n            \"before\": [\"node_modules/nestjs-auto-reflect-metadata-emitter/plugin\"]\n          }\n        }\n      ]\n    }\n```\n\nThis will be enough to make it apply it during transpilation.\n\n## Helpers to apply decorators\n\nOne of the advantages of having all this metadata emitted is that you can apply decorators for existing classes in separated scopes! To do that, there're two helper functions this library offers:\n\nthe first one is **applyPropertyAndMethodsDecorators**:\n\n```ts\napplyPropertyAndMethodsDecorators(MyClass, {\n  prop1: [\n    @ApiProperty({\n      example: '123'\n    })\n  ],\n  prop2: [\n    @ApiProperty()\n    @IsEnum(MyEnum)\n  ],\n  [DEFAULT]: [@ApiProperty()]\n})\n```\n\nNotice the symbol **DEFAULT**, it's a symbol imported from our library and serves to purpose of define a decorator that'll be applied to every property or method that doesn't have a specific set os decorators informed. This second parameter is a strongly typed object and it'll only allow names of properties and methods of MyClass (static or not), or the **DEFAULT** symbol.\nExecuting this code will have the same effect as applying the decorators directly in the class.\n\nThe second helper method is simpler, **applyClassDecorators**:\n\n```ts\napplyClassDecorators(MyClass, [\n    @Model()\n    @PrimaryKey({ field1: 1, field2: 2 })\n  ]\n})\n```\n\nThis one will apply the decorators to the class itself, not its properties.\n\n## How to simplify my nestjs project avoiding nestjs decorators into the domain\n\nUsing this plugin totally avoids the need to use the **@Injectable()** decorator, so, that's make a lot of nestjs references be avoidable into the application and domain layer. Some of them, alike CommandHandler, is still needed, though, but you can set them up at other place (when specifying the module, for example), with a function like this:\n\n```ts\nexport function prepareCommandHandlers(handlers: ClassType<ICommandHandler>[]) {\n  for (const cls of handlers) {\n    const command = getClassMetadata(cls)?.methods.get('execute')?.args[0];\n    if (command) applyClassDecorators(cls, [CommandHandler(command)])\n  }\n}\n```\n\n## How to decorate query and command handlers implicitly\n\nNestjs requires you to decorate each command handler with @CommandHandler and each query handler with @QueryHandler, but, if you want to let your application layer clear of nestjs references for a more implicit approach, when using this package ATS you can just put something like this in your module declararion:\n\n```typescript\nimport { defineCommandHandlers, defineQueryHandlers } from 'nestjs-auto-reflect-metadata-emitter';\nimport * as commandsHandlers from './application/command/handlers';\nimport * as queryHandlers from './application/query/handlers';\n\ndefineCommandHandlers(commandHandlers);\ndefineQueryHandlers(queryHandlers);\n```\n\nThis will automatically decorates all your handlers correctly. You just need to watch out to only export handlers in the indexes of the imported folders;\n\n# How to expose all my DTO properties in my API\n\nAdding something like this to your code will decorate automatically All your dtos with the decorator @ApiProperty, from @nestjs/swagger:\n\n```typescript\nimport {\n  defineAllApiProperties,\n} from 'nestjs-auto-reflect-metadata-emitter';\nimport * as dto from './dto';\n\ndefineAllApiProperties(dto);\n```\n\n## What we're not doing yet.\n\n* We're not generating metadata of get and set accessors;\n\nThis is a point of evolution of this library and we'll address them as soon as possible.
