Applause\r\n\r\nPattern replacer that helps creating human-friendly replacements.\r\n\r\n\r\n## Fork\r\nThis is a fork of git://github.com/outaTiME/applause to allow for more current/secure dependencies.\r\n\r\n\r\n## Install\r\n\r\nFirst make sure you have installed the latest version of [node.js](http://nodejs.org/)\r\n(You may need to restart your computer after this step).\r\n\r\nFrom NPM for use as a command line app:\r\n\r\n```shell\r\nnpm install next-applause -g\r\n```\r\n\r\nFrom NPM for programmatic use:\r\n\r\n```shell\r\nnpm install next-applause\r\n```\r\n\r\nFrom Git:\r\n\r\n```shell\r\ngit clone git://github.com/gbochenek/next-applause\r\ncd next-applause\r\nnpm link .\r\n```\r\n\r\n## API Reference\r\n\r\nAssuming installation via NPM, you can use `applause` in your application like this:\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\nvar fs = require('fs');\r\nvar Applause = require('applause');\r\nvar options = {\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      match: 'foo',\r\n      replacement: 'bar'\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n};\r\nvar applause = Applause.create(options);\r\nvar contents = '@@foo';\r\nvar result = applause.replace(contents);\r\nconsole.log(result.content); // bar\r\n```\r\n\r\n### Applause Options\r\n\r\n#### patterns\r\nType: `Array`\r\n\r\nDefine patterns that will be used to replace the contents of source files.\r\n\r\n#### patterns.match\r\nType: `String|RegExp`\r\n\r\nIndicates the matching expression.\r\n\r\nIf matching type is `String` we use a simple variable lookup mechanism `@@string` (in any other case we use the default regexp replace logic):\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      match: 'foo',\r\n      replacement: 'bar'  // replaces \"@@foo\" to \"bar\"\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\n#### patterns.replacement or patterns.replace\r\nType: `String|Function|Object`\r\n\r\nIndicates the replacement for match, for more information about replacement check out the [String.replace].\r\n\r\nYou can specify a function as replacement. In this case, the function will be invoked after the match has been performed. The function's result (return value) will be used as the replacement string.\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      match: /foo/g,\r\n      replacement: function () {\r\n        return 'bar'; // replaces \"foo\" to \"bar\"\r\n      }\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\nAlso supports object as replacement (we create string representation of object using [JSON.stringify]):\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      match: /foo/g,\r\n      replacement: [1, 2, 3] // replaces \"foo\" with string representation of \"array\" object\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\n> The replacement only resolve the [special replacement patterns] when using regexp for matching.\r\n\r\n#### patterns.json\r\nType: `Object`\r\n\r\nIf an attribute `json` is found in pattern definition we flatten the object using `delimiter` concatenation and each key–value pair will be used for the replacement (simple variable lookup mechanism and no regexp support).\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      json: {\r\n        \"key\": \"value\" // replaces \"@@key\" to \"value\"\r\n      }\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\nAlso supports nested objects:\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      json: {\r\n        \"key\": \"value\",   // replaces \"@@key\" to \"value\"\r\n        \"inner\": {        // replaces \"@@inner\" with string representation of \"inner\" object\r\n          \"key\": \"value\"  // replaces \"@@inner.key\" to \"value\"\r\n        }\r\n      }\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\nFor deferred invocations is possible to define functions:\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      json: function (done) {\r\n        done({\r\n          key: 'value'\r\n        });\r\n      }\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\n#### patterns.yaml\r\nType: `String`\r\n\r\nIf an attribute `yaml` found in pattern definition it will be converted and then processed like [json attribute](#patternsjson).\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      yaml: 'key: value'  // replaces \"@@key\" to \"value\"\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\nFor deferred invocations is possible to define functions:\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      yaml: function (done) {\r\n        done('key: value');\r\n      }\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\n#### patterns.cson\r\nType: `String`\r\n\r\nIf an attribute `cson` is found in pattern definition it will be converted and then processed like [json attribute](#patternsjson).\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      cson: 'key: \\'value\\''\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\nFor deferred invocations is possible to define functions:\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      cson: function (done) {\r\n        done('key: \\'value\\'');\r\n      }\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\n#### variables\r\nType: `Object`\r\n\r\nThis is the old way to define patterns using plain object (simple variable lookup mechanism and no regexp support). You can still use this but for more control you should use the new `patterns` way.\r\n\r\n```javascript\r\n{\r\n  variables: {\r\n    'key': 'value' // replaces \"@@key\" to \"value\"\r\n  }\r\n}\r\n```\r\n\r\n#### prefix\r\nType: `String`\r\nDefault: `@@`\r\n\r\nThe prefix added for matching (prevent bad replacements / easy way).\r\n\r\n> This only applies for simple variable lookup mechanism.\r\n\r\n#### usePrefix\r\nType: `Boolean`\r\nDefault: `true`\r\n\r\nIf set to `false`, we match the pattern without `prefix` concatenation (useful when you want to lookup a simple string).\r\n\r\n> This only applies for simple variable lookup mechanism.\r\n\r\n#### preservePrefix\r\nType: `Boolean`\r\nDefault: `false`\r\n\r\nIf set to `true`, we preserve the `prefix` in target.\r\n\r\n> This only applies for simple variable lookup mechanism and when `patterns.replacement` is a string.\r\n\r\n#### delimiter\r\nType: `String`\r\nDefault: `.`\r\n\r\nThe delimiter used to flatten when using object as replacement.\r\n\r\n#### preserveOrder\r\nType: `Boolean`\r\nDefault: `false`\r\n\r\nIf set to `true`, we preserve the patterns definition order, otherwise these will be sorted (in ascending order) to prevent replacement issues like `head` / `header` (typo regexps will be resolved at last).\r\n\r\n[payground]: http://outatime.github.io/applause.io/\r\n[String.replace]: http://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/String/replace\r\n[JSON.stringify]: http://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/JSON/stringify\r\n[special replacement patterns]: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/String/replace#Specifying_a_string_as_a_parameter\r\n\r\n### Usage Examples\r\n\r\n#### Basic\r\n\r\nFile `src/manifest.appcache`:\r\n\r\n```\r\nCACHE MANIFEST\r\n# @@timestamp\r\n\r\nCACHE:\r\n\r\nfavicon.ico\r\nindex.html\r\n\r\nNETWORK:\r\n*\r\n```\r\n\r\nNode:\r\n\r\n```js\r\nvar fs = require('fs');\r\nvar Applause = require('applause');\r\nvar options = {\r\n  patterns: [\r\n    {\r\n      match: 'timestamp',\r\n      replacement: new Date().getTime()\r\n    }\r\n  ]\r\n};\r\nvar applause = Applause.create(options);\r\nvar contents = fs.readFileSync('./src/manifest.appcache', 'utf8');\r\nvar result = applause.replace(contents);\r\nconsole.log(result.content);
