On approval it writes a\r\nscoped token to `.oathlock/local.json` and non-secret metadata to\r\n`.oathlock/config.json`.\r\n\r\nIf `.oathlock/local.json` already has a token, `init` treats the workspace as\r\n**already connected**: it does not create a new claim, never prints the token, and\r\npoints you to `doctor`/`rules` instead. The block tells the agent to verify the connection (`doctor`), load\r\nrules, start or attach to a controlled run, check the inbox, prepare a redacted\n`OathLock Evidence Draft`, and set the run to waiting for human review. The\ndraft includes the actual verification commands and results, changed files,\nlimitations, and a sensitive-data check. A human reviews and approves that exact draft.\nOnly after approval may the agent create an untracked temporary file and run\n`submit-session <file> --approved`; OathLock records the materially matching\ndraft at that point. The agent cannot approve or record its own draft.\n\r\n**Honest limitation:** OathLock does not intercept arbitrary external agent\r\nsessions. Automatic behavior depends on the supported agent reading the\r\ninstalled repo instructions (or a future runtime/MCP integration). Roadmap,\r\nnot implemented today: Phase 2 — OathLock MCP tools for rules, run start, inbox,\r\nevidence preparation, and status; Phase 3 — a deterministic agent launch\r\nwrapper/runtime.\r\n\r\n### `doctor`\r\n\r\nChecks local setup and API reachability without changing anything: confirms\r\n`.oathlock/local.json` and a token are present, prints the API base, and verifies\r\n`/api/agent/rules` is reachable and authorized. Both require a local token;\r\n`run status` requires an active run. When a run is active, `rules` also reports\r\n`rules_loaded_count` to the dashboard.\r\n\r\nRules generated from a session start as **recommended** and only become active —\r\nand thus returned here — after a human **promotes** them in the dashboard.\r\nOathLock never auto-promotes. **Rule Health** is evaluated only when a later run\r\nloads an active rule and submits evidence.\r\n\r\n```bash\r\nnpx oathlock rules\r\n```\r\n\r\n### `compare` / `proof`\r\n\r\nPrints a conservative two-run report (Run A vs Run B). **Evidence, not vibes:**\r\n\r\n- Token/cost is compared **only when both runs recorded usage metadata** —\r\n  otherwise it prints \"Usage comparison unavailable…\".\r\n- Output quality is reported **only from objective signals** (build result, test\r\n  result, lint result, acceptance criteria, or human approval) — otherwise it\r\n  prints that those signals are required, plus a short \"How to make this\r\n  measurable\" hint (include build/lint/test results and acceptance criteria in the\r\n  redacted session; note whether the human accepted the final diff; never include\r\n  secrets or full source code).\r\n- **Rule Health** says whether a loaded rule **held**, was **violated**, or\r\n  **could not be judged** — never that a rule \"worked\". The file\r\nformat is inferred from its extension: `.md` → markdown export, `.json` → JSON,\r\n`.jsonl` → JSONL, `.txt`/`.log` → text log.\r\n\r\n```bash\r\nnpx oathlock submit-session oathlock-session.md --approved\n```\n\nPass `--evidence-contract <json>` to record a validated\n`oathlock.evidence.v1` contract with the approved session. The session is submitted as\r\n`human_reviewed` / `human_approved_submission: true`. Add to your\r\n`.gitignore`:\r\n\r\n```gitignore\r\n.oathlock/\r\n```\r\n\r\n## Token safety\r\n\r\n- The scoped token is written **once** to `.oathlock/local.json` (gitignore it).\r\n- After saving, the full token is **never printed** — only a masked preview like\r\n  `oak_…a1b2`.\r\n- Any token value is **redacted** from error output before it is shown.\r\n- Session and rule contents are never printed; `submit-session` reports only a\r\n  count of loaded rules.\r\n\r\n## Human approval requirement\r\n\r\nOathLock is human-owned by design, and the CLI enforces that at two points:\r\n\r\n1. **Connecting** — `init` cannot complete until a human repo owner approves the\r\n   claim in the browser. The CLI only polls; it cannot self-approve.\r\n2. **Submitting** — `submit-session` refuses to send a session unless a human\r\n   passes `--approved` after reviewing and redacting it.\r\n\r\n## Rule Health\r\n\r\nWhen you submit a session, OathLock evaluates your workspace rules against what the\r\nsession **actually shows** — observed evidence is the source of truth, not the\r\nagent's self-report (the CLI sends empty `rules_followed`/`rules_violated`). The\r\nresult groups each rule into buckets such as `followed`, `violated`,\r\n`needs_review`, `not_applicable`, `too_vague`, and `obsolete`, and\r\n`submit-session` prints the non-empty buckets plus per-rule reasons. This is how\r\nOathLock tells you which rules are working, which are being ignored, and which have\r\ngone stale.\r\n\r\n## Publishing (maintainers)\r\n\r\nThis package is currently marked `\"private\": true` to prevent an accidental\r\npublish.
