Readmore.js\n\nA smooth, responsive jQuery plugin for collapsing and expanding long blocks of text with \"Read more\" and \"Close\" links.\n\nThe markup Readmore.js requires is so simple, you can probably use it with your existing HTML—there's no need for complicated sets of `div`'s or hardcoded classes, just call `.readmore()` on the element containing your block of text and Readmore.js takes care of the rest. Readmore.js plays well in a responsive environment, too.\n\nReadmore.js is tested with—and supported on—all versions of jQuery greater than 1.9.1. All the \"good\" browsers are supported, as well as IE10+; IE8 & 9 _should_ work, but are not supported and the experience will not be ideal.\n\n\n## Install\n\nInstall Readmore.js with npm:\n\n```\n$ npm install readmore-js\n```\n\nThen include it in your HTML:\n\n```html\n\n```\n\nOr, using Webpack or Browserify:\n\n```javascript\nrequire('readmore-js');\n```\n\n\n## Use\n\n```javascript\n$('article').readmore();\n```\n\nIt's that simple. You can change the speed of the animation, the height of the collapsed block, and the open and close elements.\n\n```javascript\n$('article').readmore({\n speed: 75,\n lessLink: 'Read less'\n});\n```\n\n### The options:\n\n* `speed: 100` in milliseconds\n* `collapsedHeight: 200` in pixels\n* `heightMargin: 16` in pixels, avoids collapsing blocks that are only slightly larger than `collapsedHeight`\n* `moreLink: 'Read more'`\n* `lessLink: 'Close'`\n* `embedCSS: true` insert required CSS dynamically, set this to `false` if you include the necessary CSS in a stylesheet\n* `blockCSS: 'display: block; width: 100%;'` sets the styling of the blocks, ignored if `embedCSS` is `false`\n* `startOpen: false` do not immediately truncate, start in the fully opened position\n* `beforeToggle: function() {}` called after a more or less link is clicked, but *before* the block is collapsed or expanded\n* `afterToggle: function() {}` called *after* the block is collapsed or expanded\n* `blockProcessed: function() {}` called once per block during initilization after Readmore.js has processed the block.\n\nIf the element has a `max-height` CSS property, Readmore.js will use that value rather than the value of the `collapsedHeight` option.\n\n### The callbacks:\n\nThe `beforeToggle` and `afterToggle` callbacks both receive the same arguments: `trigger`, `element`, and `expanded`.\n\n* `trigger`: the \"Read more\" or \"Close\" element that was clicked\n* `element`: the block that is being collapsed or expanded\n* `expanded`: Boolean; `true` means the block is expanded\n\nThe `blockProcessed` callback receives `element` and `collapsable`.\n\n* `element`: the block that has just been processed\n* `collapsable`: Boolean; `false` means the block was shorter than the specified minimum `collapsedHeight`--the block will not have a \"Read more\" link\n\n#### Callback example:\n\nHere's an example of how you could use the `afterToggle` callback to scroll back to the top of a block when the \"Close\" link is clicked.\n\n```javascript\n$('article').readmore({\n afterToggle: function(trigger, element, expanded) {\n if(! expanded) { // The \"Close\" link was clicked\n $('html, body').animate( { scrollTop: element.offset().top }, {duration: 100 } );\n }\n }\n});\n```\n\n### Removing Readmore:\n\nYou can remove the Readmore.js functionality like so:\n\n```javascript\n$('article').readmore('destroy');\n```\n\nOr, you can be more surgical by specifying a particular element:\n\n```javascript\n$('article:first').readmore('destroy');\n```\n\n### Toggling blocks programmatically:\n\nYou can toggle a block from code:\n\n```javascript\n$('article:nth-of-type(3)').readmore('toggle');\n```\n\n\n## CSS:\n\nReadmore.js is designed to use CSS for as much functionality as possible: collapsed height can be set in CSS with the `max-height` property; \"collapsing\" is achieved by setting `overflow: hidden` on the containing block and changing the `height` property; and, finally, the expanding/collapsing animation is done with CSS3 transitions.\n\nBy default, Readmore.js inserts the following CSS, in addition to some transition-related rules:\n\n```css\nselector + [data-readmore-toggle], selector[data-readmore] {\n display: block;\n width: 100%;\n}\n```\n\n_`selector` would be the element you invoked `readmore()` on, e.g.: `$('selector').readmore()`_\n\nYou can override the base rules when you set up Readmore.js like so:\n\n```javascript\n$('article').readmore({blockCSS: 'display: inline-block; width: 50%;'});\n```\n\nIf you want to include the necessary styling in your site's stylesheet, you can disable the dynamic embedding by setting `embedCSS` to `false`:\n\n```javascript\n$('article').readmore({embedCSS: false});\n```\n\n### Media queries and other CSS tricks:\n\nIf you wanted to set a `maxHeight` based on lines, you could do so in CSS with something like:\n\n```css\nbody {\n font: 16px/1.5 sans-serif;\n}\n\n/* Show only 4 lines in smaller screens */\narticle {\n max-height: 6em; /* (4 * 1.5 = 6) */\n}\n```\n\nThen, with a media query you could change the number of lines shown, like so:\n\n```css\n/* Show 8 lines on larger screens */\n@media screen and (min-width: 640px) {\n article {\n max-height: 12em;\n }\n}\n```\n\n\n## Contributing\n\nPull requests are always welcome, but not all suggested features will get merged. Feel free to contact me if you have an idea for a feature.\n\nPull requests should include the minified script and this readme and the demo HTML should be updated with descriptions of your new feature.\n\nYou'll need NPM:\n\n```\n$ npm install\n```\n\nWhich will install the necessary development dependencies. Then, to build the minified script:\n\n```\n$ npm run build\n```\n\n","readmeFilename":"README.md","gitHead":"6717ab31d31c8f2aab3cee5e4315aa5703d4bb7d","_id":"readmore-js@3.0.0-alpha-2","_shasum":"007cc82529292de3c462b95b59fac0c2958a0a3e","_from":".","_npmVersion":"3.10.10","_nodeVersion":"6.10.3","_npmUser":{"name":"jedfoster","email":"jed@jedfoster.com"},"dist":{"shasum":"007cc82529292de3c462b95b59fac0c2958a0a3e","tarball":"https://registry.npmjs.org/readmore-js/-/readmore-js-3.0.0-alpha-2.tgz","integrity":"sha512-HoKZEYjo/qbwHrSli4fLIet31fNI7z218vhpCvaPjhWtcfccEaY5Lqvmuh3l6iWWJz558l1Gt5jyF08xBdhv7g==","fileCount":7,"unpackedSize":50249,"npm-signature":"-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----\r\nVersion: OpenPGP.js v3.0.4\r\nComment: https://openpgpjs.org\r\n\r\nwsFcBAEBCAAQBQJbqZl8CRA9TVsSAnZWagAAyssP/1R655dSwPSDdTfttzJt\nPF8dAwrQB4vhnHfOAgymtgZndBwVxACBZ8Z9ghWiQxYrNZVxy/+nMnLHcZJ7\nq+ubAunfrKikYjkUdrz6vGuaj5yxP7O3rfPqN7Jkk8R6aSNQL3t/snIgkt+T\nKzmjHMyCVjUmSvMFRwWl4G6hH1FDq20LMaxcFX6EQagU2R3F92ArKLTtugO5\ne0ph02OsQ7y9/G4ww9/1Cs5B5IOn1TOHPjj9oHrwgmg3hMAFghiCGSbKxJfn\nkEMX57afdYq5YtDR4V1G/mFYWLykOaIvPlAyt0ykFrxeFVzW+4H7n6EaG0Fv\nVc/9Jg2Oehg257wMikyCFL+3RqW8qm0QWRnF3LAzpXmHI7gEKjcFQbUOFeXn\nCc4yBDK6DrYiBqi5r7nDBGDv5TRkA3Cg4aISGOAbjOl5VB5G8HWaek5JA9HF\nTXcFhjeKz0typKU0wvtl1Zyrpfm656bGNe6VxjxTgV7EfGqMT0vf65CPNmNc\nZBkj0Yclz13HZ5Wx6HJOlq0jB3xwkl6JtaZgni9PaGJ4k5EjKrZr1Rdc5JZH\n54xYZut+rg2RxTkKowAP7gWYF6vESygwc7YOj2z5hDaI1O4AtKqcU1dNEwn9\nNy60QQSJMpjsVj0TTpm0AwvsRSkK3K5qPVTR43pzeNDCQFDiGmNPiQe5NGyG\nj/Ia\r\n=4MUZ\r\n-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----\r\n","signatures":[{"keyid":"SHA256:jl3bwswu80PjjokCgh0o2w5c2U4LhQAE57gj9cz1kzA","sig":"MEUCIAgOap//XhcXc7SgXAZYIKHe4rf2oznLJ8GHqE3TBZdZAiEAjQcx9rMXXcgmA0v03R4C1kELIwr/qTZMIe0hU3iSovY="}]},"maintainers":[{"name":"jedfoster","email":"jed@jedfoster.com"}],"directories":{},"_npmOperationalInternal":{"host":"s3://npm-registry-packages","tmp":"tmp/readmore-js_3.0.0-alpha-2_1537841531498_0.3224943851538946"},"_hasShrinkwrap":false},"3.0.0-alpha-4":{"name":"readmore-js","version":"3.0.0-alpha-4","description":"A lightweight JavaScript plugin for collapsing and expanding long blocks of text with \"Read more\" and \"Close\" links.","main":"readmore.js","scripts":{"build":"rm -rf ./dist/* && ./node_modules/webpack/bin/webpack.js && cp src/readmore.js dist/readmore.es6.js","start":"./node_modules/webpack-dev-server/bin/webpack-dev-server.js","test":"NODE_ENV=test ./node_modules/mocha/bin/mocha --compilers js:babel-core/register","watch":"./node_modules/webpack/bin/webpack.js --watch","compress":"echo \"Error: no compress script\" && exit 1 # ./node_modules/uglify-js/bin/uglifyjs ./build/js/app.js -cmv --screw-ie8 -o ./build/js/app.js","lint":"./node_modules/eslint/bin/eslint.js --cache .","precommit":"npm run lint #&& npm run test","prepublish":"npm run build"},"repository":{"type":"git","url":"git+https://github.com/jedfoster/Readmore.js.git"},"keywords":["css","jquery","readmore","expand","collapse"],"author":{"name":"Jed Foster","email":"jed@jedfoster.com"},"license":"MIT","homepage":"https://github.com/jedfoster/Readmore.js","bugs":{"url":"https://github.com/jedfoster/Readmore.js/issues"},"babel":{"presets":["env"],"plugins":[["transform-define","./constants.js"]]},"devDependencies":{"babel-core":"^6.26.0","babel-eslint":"^9.0.0","babel-loader":"^7.1.2","babel-plugin-transform-define":"^1.3.0","babel-preset-env":"^1.6.0","chai":"^4.1.2","eslint":"^5.5.0","eslint-config-airbnb-base":"^13.1.0","eslint-plugin-import":"^2.14.0","file-loader":"^1.1.5","husky":"^0.14.3","mocha":"^3.5.3","uglify-js":"^3.2.0","webpack":"^3.6.0","webpack-dev-server":"^2.9.1"},"readme":"# Readmore.js -- v3.0.0-alpha\n\nA smooth, responsive JavaScript plugin for collapsing and expanding long blocks of text with \"Read more\" and \"Close\" links.\n\nThe markup Readmore.js requires is so simple, you can probably use it with your existing HTML—there's no need for complicated sets of `div`'s or hardcoded classes, just call `new Readmore()` on the element containing your block of text and Readmore.js takes care of the rest. As such, this information is subject to frequent changes and may not accurately reflect the current state of the project.**\n\n\n## Install\n\nInstall Readmore.js with npm:\n\n```\n$ npm install readmore-js@next\n```\n\nThen include it in your HTML:\n\n```html\n\n```\n\nOr, using Webpack or Browserify:\n\n```javascript\nrequire('readmore-js');\n```\n\n\n## Usage\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article');\n```\n\nIt's that simple. You can change the speed of the animation, the height of the collapsed block, and the open and close elements.\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article', {\n speed: 75,\n lessLink: 'Read less'\n});\n```\n\n## Options\n\n* `speed: 100` in milliseconds\n* `collapsedHeight: 200` in pixels\n* `heightMargin: 16` in pixels, avoids collapsing blocks that are only slightly larger than `collapsedHeight`\n* `moreLink: 'Read more'`\n* `lessLink: 'Close'`\n* `embedCSS: true` insert required CSS dynamically, set this to `false` if you include the necessary CSS in a stylesheet\n* `blockCSS: 'display: block; width: 100%;'` sets the styling of the blocks, ignored if `embedCSS` is `false`\n* `startOpen: false` do not immediately truncate, start in the fully opened position\n* `blockProcessed: function() {}` called once per block during initilization after Readmore.js has processed the block.\n* `beforeToggle: function() {}` called after a more or less link is clicked, but *before* the block is collapsed or expanded\n* `afterToggle: function() {}` called *after* the block is collapsed or expanded\n\nIf the element has a `max-height` CSS property, Readmore.js will use that value rather than the value of the `collapsedHeight` option.\n\n### Callbacks\n\nThe `beforeToggle` and `afterToggle` callbacks both receive the same arguments: `trigger`, `element`, and `expanded`.\n\n* `trigger`: the \"Read more\" or \"Close\" element that was clicked\n* `element`: the block that is being collapsed or expanded\n* `expanded`: Boolean; `true` means the block is expanded\n\nThe `blockProcessed` callback receives `element` and `collapsable`.\n\n* `element`: the block that has just been processed\n* `collapsable`: Boolean; `false` means the block was shorter than the specified minimum `collapsedHeight`--the block will not have a \"Read more\" link\n\nHere's an example of how you could use the `afterToggle` callback to scroll back to the top of a block when the \"Close\" link is clicked.\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article', {\n afterToggle: function(trigger, element, expanded) {\n if(!expanded) { // The \"Close\" link was clicked\n window.scrollTo({ top: element.offsetTop, behavior: 'smooth' });\n }\n }\n});\n```\n\n\n## API\n\nThe `Readmore` class constructor and all methods accept as arguments, either:\n\n* `selector String` valid CSS selectors; e.g. `'blockquote'`, `'.truncate-block'`, or `'#blog .section'`\n* `Element` a single Element object; e.g. return value of `document.getElementById('blog')`\n* `NodeList` a NodeList collection of Elements; e.g. return value of `document.querySelectorAll('article')`\n\n### Constructor\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore(selector String | Element | NodeList);\n```\n\n### toggle\n\nToggle a block programmatically.\n\n```javascript\n// As instance method\nrmjs.toggle(selector String | Element | NodeList);\n```\n\nYou can toggle a block from code:\n\n```javascript\n// Store a reference to an instance of Readmore\nvar rmjs = new Readmore('article');\n\nrmjs.toggle('article:first-child')\n```\n\n### destroy\n\nRemove Readmore.js functionality from specific blocks or all blocks.\n\n```javascript\nrmjs.destroy(null | selector String | Element | NodeList);\n```\n\nWhen invoked with `null`, will remove Readmore.js functionality from all of the instance's blocks.\n\nYou can remove the Readmore.js functionality like so:\n\n```javascript\n// Store a reference to an instance of Readmore\nvar rmjs = new Readmore('article');\n\n// Now call destroy on the instance\nrmjs.destroy();\n```\n\nOr, you can be more surgical by specifying a particular element:\n\n```javascript\n// Store a reference to an instance of Readmore\nvar rmjs = new Readmore('article');\n\n// Now remove Readmore from just the first block\nrmjs.destroy(document.querySelector('article:first-child'));\n\n// or\nrmjs.destroy('article:nth-of-type(2)');\n```\n\n\n## CSS:\n\nReadmore.js is designed to use CSS for as much functionality as possible: collapsed height can be set in CSS with the `max-height` property; \"collapsing\" is achieved by setting `overflow: hidden` on the containing block and changing the `height` property; and, finally, the expanding/collapsing animation is done with CSS3 transitions.\n\nBy default, Readmore.js inserts the following CSS, in addition to some transition-related rules:\n\n```css\nselector + [data-readmore-toggle], selector[data-readmore] {\n display: block;\n width: 100%;\n}\n```\n\n_`selector` would be the element you invoked `readmore()` on, e.g.: `new Readmore('selector')`_\n\nYou can override the base rules when you set up Readmore.js like so:\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article', { blockCSS: 'display: inline-block; width: 50%;' });\n```\n\nIf you want to include the necessary styling in your site's stylesheet, you can disable the dynamic embedding by setting `embedCSS` to `false`:\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article', { embedCSS: false });\n```\n\n### Media queries and other CSS tricks:\n\nIf you wanted to set a `maxHeight` based on lines, you could do so in CSS with something like:\n\n```css\nbody {\n font: 16px/1.5 sans-serif;\n}\n\n/* Show only 4 lines in smaller screens */\narticle {\n max-height: 6em; /* (4 * 1.5 = 6) */\n}\n```\n\nThen, with a media query you could change the number of lines shown, like so:\n\n```css\n/* Show 8 lines on larger screens */\n@media screen and (min-width: 640px) {\n article {\n max-height: 12em;\n }\n}\n```\n\n\n## Contributing\n\nPull requests are always welcome, but not all suggested features will get merged. Then, to build the minified script:\n\n```\n$ npm run build\n```\n","readmeFilename":"README.md","gitHead":"db031da9fc64b3e71e6c0f097545d33e5b5e1984","_id":"readmore-js@3.0.0-alpha-4","_shasum":"f3776f09cc3f03843952fe69534b4c4c45a3fbff","_from":".","_npmVersion":"3.10.10","_nodeVersion":"6.10.3","_npmUser":{"name":"jedfoster","email":"jed@jedfoster.com"},"dist":{"shasum":"f3776f09cc3f03843952fe69534b4c4c45a3fbff","tarball":"https://registry.npmjs.org/readmore-js/-/readmore-js-3.0.0-alpha-4.tgz","integrity":"sha512-P60U6qr/QcxSpBZ9LUvQ4niqfIDjto7Ogx2b7LVStBhcyJ5vBVN15avOsggtoqaGCitPeQy/B6RT5Nruien+Bw==","fileCount":7,"unpackedSize":63645,"npm-signature":"-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----\r\nVersion: OpenPGP.js v3.0.4\r\nComment: https://openpgpjs.org\r\n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\n8urj\r\n=bk2l\r\n-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----\r\n","signatures":[{"keyid":"SHA256:jl3bwswu80PjjokCgh0o2w5c2U4LhQAE57gj9cz1kzA","sig":"MEQCIHx2Mz7GqxpbJyClC9MZjFwvz36XrPcmVH9EUaVlyariAiA2AU0AebASTNEv8/ksb+i3SnggFjM+rGUBz0CCD8DqiA=="}]},"maintainers":[{"name":"jedfoster","email":"jed@jedfoster.com"}],"directories":{},"_npmOperationalInternal":{"host":"s3://npm-registry-packages","tmp":"tmp/readmore-js_3.0.0-alpha-4_1550879490680_0.6658583244214078"},"_hasShrinkwrap":false},"3.0.0-alpha-5":{"name":"readmore-js","version":"3.0.0-alpha-5","description":"A lightweight JavaScript plugin for collapsing and expanding long blocks of text with \"Read more\" and \"Close\" links.","main":"readmore.js","scripts":{"build":"rm -rf ./dist/* && ./node_modules/webpack/bin/webpack.js && cp src/readmore.js dist/readmore.es6.js","start":"./node_modules/webpack-dev-server/bin/webpack-dev-server.js","test":"NODE_ENV=test ./node_modules/mocha/bin/mocha --compilers js:babel-core/register","watch":"./node_modules/webpack/bin/webpack.js --watch","compress":"echo \"Error: no compress script\" && exit 1 # ./node_modules/uglify-js/bin/uglifyjs ./build/js/app.js -cmv --screw-ie8 -o ./build/js/app.js","lint":"./node_modules/eslint/bin/eslint.js --cache .","precommit":"npm run lint #&& npm run test","prepublish":"npm run build"},"repository":{"type":"git","url":"git+https://github.com/jedfoster/Readmore.js.git"},"keywords":["css","jquery","readmore","expand","collapse"],"author":{"name":"Jed Foster","email":"jed@jedfoster.com"},"license":"MIT","homepage":"https://github.com/jedfoster/Readmore.js","bugs":{"url":"https://github.com/jedfoster/Readmore.js/issues"},"babel":{"presets":["env"],"plugins":[["transform-define","./constants.js"]]},"devDependencies":{"babel-core":"^6.26.0","babel-eslint":"^9.0.0","babel-loader":"^7.1.2","babel-plugin-transform-define":"^1.3.0","babel-preset-env":"^1.6.0","chai":"^4.1.2","eslint":"^5.5.0","eslint-config-airbnb-base":"^13.1.0","eslint-plugin-import":"^2.14.0","file-loader":"^1.1.5","husky":"^0.14.3","mocha":"^3.5.3","uglify-js":"^3.2.0","webpack":"^3.6.0","webpack-dev-server":"^2.9.1"},"readme":"# Readmore.js -- v3.0.0-alpha\n\nA smooth, responsive JavaScript plugin for collapsing and expanding long blocks of text with \"Read more\" and \"Close\" links.\n\nThe markup Readmore.js requires is so simple, you can probably use it with your existing HTML—there's no need for complicated sets of `div`'s or hardcoded classes, just call `new Readmore()` on the element containing your block of text and Readmore.js takes care of the rest. You can change the speed of the animation, the height of the collapsed block, and the open and close elements.\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article', {\n speed: 75,\n lessLink: 'Read less'\n});\n```\n\n\n## Options\n\n* `speed: 100` in milliseconds\n* `collapsedHeight: 200` in pixels\n* `heightMargin: 16` in pixels, avoids collapsing blocks that are only slightly larger than `collapsedHeight`\n* `moreLink: 'Read more'` HTML string for the \"more\" toggle link; also accepts a callback function that returns an HTML string\n* `lessLink: 'Close'` HTML string for the \"less\" toggle link; also accepts a callback function that returns an HTML string\n* `embedCSS: true` insert required CSS dynamically, set this to `false` if you include the necessary CSS in a stylesheet\n* `blockCSS: 'display: block; width: 100%;'` sets the styling of the blocks, ignored if `embedCSS` is `false`\n* `startOpen: false` do not immediately truncate, start in the fully opened position\n* `sourceOrder: 'after'` the toggle link is inserted `'before'` or `'after'` the block\n* `blockProcessed: function() {}` called once per block during initilization after Readmore.js has processed the block\n* `beforeToggle: function() {}` called after a more or less link is clicked, but *before* the block is collapsed or expanded\n* `afterToggle: function() {}` called *after* the block is collapsed or expanded\n\nIf the element has a `max-height` CSS property, Readmore.js will use that value rather than the value of the `collapsedHeight` option.\n\n\n### Callbacks\n\n#### Toggle link callbacks\n\nYou can pass a callback function instead of an HTML string for the `moreLink` and `lessLink` options. This is useful if you want alter the content of more/less toggle links on a per block basis. Your callback will receive the current block and _must_ return a string.\n\nHere's how you could use a callback to dynamically generate a `moreLink` containing the headline of a block.\n\n```javscript\nnew Readmore('article', {\n moreLink: function(element) {\n const headline = element.querySelector('h2').innerText;\n\n return `Read more about ${headline}`;\n }\n};\n```\n\n#### Lifecycle callbacks\n\nThe `beforeToggle` and `afterToggle` callbacks both receive the same arguments: `trigger`, `element`, and `expanded`.\n\n* `trigger`: the \"Read more\" or \"Close\" element that was clicked\n* `element`: the block that is being collapsed or expanded\n* `expanded`: Boolean; `true` means the block is expanded\n\nThe `blockProcessed` callback receives `element` and `collapsable`.\n\n* `element`: the block that has just been processed\n* `collapsable`: Boolean; `false` means the block was shorter than the specified minimum `collapsedHeight`--the block will not have a \"Read more\" link\n\nHere's an example of how you could use the `afterToggle` callback to scroll back to the top of a block when the \"Close\" link is clicked.\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article', {\n afterToggle: function(trigger, element, expanded) {\n if(!expanded) { // The \"Close\" link was clicked\n window.scrollTo({ top: element.offsetTop, behavior: 'smooth' });\n }\n }\n});\n```\n\nIf `beforeToggle` returns `false` the toggle action is halted and `afterToggle` will _not_ be executed. This is useful if you want prevent a toggle based on some application logic--the state of another element on the page, current phase of the moon, etc.\n\n\n## API\n\nThe `Readmore` class constructor and all methods accept as arguments, either:\n\n* `selector String` valid CSS selectors; e.g. Readmore.js works well on mobile and plays nicely with responsive designs, too.\n\nReadmore.js has no external dependencies (no more jQuery—yay!) and works in all the \"good\" browsers, as well as IE10+; IE9 _should_ work, but is not supported and the experience will not be ideal.\n\n\n**NOTE: This documentation is for the beta releases of the next version of Readmore.js.**\n\n\n## Install\n\nInstall Readmore.js with npm:\n\n```\n$ npm install readmore-js@next\n```\n\nThen include it in your HTML:\n\n```html\n\n```\n\nOr, using Webpack or Browserify:\n\n```javascript\nrequire('readmore-js');\n```\n\n\n## Usage\n\n```javascript\nnew Readmore('article');\n```\n\nIt's that simple.
