// // default is \"marker\"\n} as FlexibleMarkerOptions);\n```\n\n#### `dictionary`\n\nIt is a **key, value** option for providing **color classification** for the `mark` node.\n\nThe dictionary is opinionated, by default.\n\n```typescript\ntype Key = \"a\" | \"b\" | \"c\" | \"d\" | \"e\" | \"f\" | \"g\" | \"h\" | \"i\" | \"j\" | \"k\" | \"l\" | \"m\" \n         | \"n\" | \"o\" | \"p\" | \"q\" | \"r\" | \"s\" | \"t\" | \"u\" | \"v\" | \"w\" | \"x\" | \"y\" | \"z\";\n\ntype Dictionary = Partial<Record<Key, string>>;\n\nconst dictionary: Dictionary = {\n  a: \"amber\",\n  b: \"blue\",\n  c: \"cyan\",\n  d: \"brown\",\n  e: \"espresso\",\n  f: \"fuchsia\",\n  g: \"green\",\n  h: \"hotpink\",\n  i: \"indigo\",\n  j: \"jade\",\n  k: \"kiwi\",\n  l: \"lime\",\n  m: \"magenta\",\n  n: \"navyblue\",\n  o: \"orange\",\n  p: \"purple\",\n  q: \"pink\",\n  r: \"red\",\n  s: \"silver\",\n  t: \"teal\",\n  u: \"umber\",\n  v: \"violet\",\n  w: \"white\",\n  x: \"gray\",\n  y: \"yellow\",\n  z: \"black\",\n};\n```\n\n**You can override the dictionary entries.**\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  dictionary: {\n    w: \"wall\"\n  },\n});\n```\n\nNow, it is overriden for only `w` key, and the color classification will be `wall` instead of default one `white`.\n\n```markdown\n=w=marked content==\n```\n\n```html\n<p>\n  <mark class=\"remark-marker remark-marker-wall\">marked content</mark>\n</p>\n```\n\n#### `markerTagName`\n\nIt is a **string** or a **callback** `(color?: string) => string` option for providing custom HTML tag name for `mark` nodes.\n\nBy default, it is `mark` which is well known HTML element for highlighting the texts.\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  markerTagName: \"span\",\n});\n```\n\nNow, the element tag names will be `span`.\n\n```html\n<span class=\"...\">marked content</span>\n```\n\nThe option can take also a callback function, which has an optional argument `color`, and returns **string** representing the **custom tag name**. \n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  markerTagName: (color) => color ?? \"yellow\",\n});\n```\n\nNow, the element tag names will be the color name.\n\n```markdown\n==marked content==\n=r=marked content==\n```\n\n```html\n<p>\n  <yellow class=\"...\">marked content</yellow>\n  <red class=\"...\">marked content</red>\n</p>\n```\n\n#### `markerClassName`\n\nIt is a **string** or a **callback** `(color?: string) => string[]` option for providing custom class name for the `mark` node. \n\nBy default, it is `flexible-marker`, and all mark nodes' classnames will contain `flexible-marker`.\n\nA mark node contains also a **secondary class name** representing the **color specification** which starts with the `flexible-marker-` and ends with the `color specification`, like `flexible-marker-red` or `flexible-marker-blue`. If there is no color classification, then the secondary class name will be `flexible-marker-default`.\n\nIf a mark syntax in the document has no content, and would wanted to be an empty marker, the class name will contain `flexible-marker-empty`, additionally.\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  markerClassName: \"remark-marker\",\n});\n```\n\nNow, the mark nodes will have `remark-marker` as a className, and the secondary class names will start with `remark-marker-`.\n\n```markdown\n==marked content==\n=r=marked content==\n```\n\n```html\n<p>\n  <mark class=\"remark-marker remark-marker-default\">marked content</mark>\n  <mark class=\"remark-marker remark-marker-red\">marked content</mark>\n</p>\n```\n\nThe option can take also a callback function, which has an optional argument `color`, and returns **array of strings** representing **class names**. \n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  markerClassName: (color) => {\n    return [`marker-${color ?? \"yellow\"}`]\n  },\n});\n```\n\nNow, the element class names **will contain only one class name** like `marker-yellow`, `marker-red` etc.\n\n```markdown\n==marked content==\n=r=marked content==\n```\n\n```html\n<p>\n  <mark class=\"marker-yellow\">marked content</mark>\n  <mark class=\"marker-red\">marked content</mark>\n</p>\n```\n\n> [!WARNING]\n> **If you use the `markerClassName` option as a callback function, it is your responsibility to define class names, primary or secondary in an array.**\n\n#### `markerProperties`\n\nIt is a **callback** `(color?: string) => Record<string, unknown> & { className?: never }` option to set additional properties for the `mark` node.\n\nThe callback function that takes the `color` as optional argument and returns **object** which is going to be used for adding additional properties into the `mark` node.\n\n**The `className` key is forbidden and effectless in the returned object.**\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  markerProperties(color) {\n    return {\n      [\"data-color\"]: color,\n    };\n  },\n});\n```\n\nNow, the mark nodes which have a color classification will contain `data-color` property.\n\n```markdown\n==marked content==\n=r=marked content==\n```\n\n```html\n<p>\n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-default\">marked content</mark>\n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-red\" data-color=\"red\">marked content</mark>\n</p>\n```\n\n#### `equalityOperator`\n\nIt is a **string** option in order not to confuse with mathematical equality operator like `if a == b, then ...`.\n\nIf there is a space around **double equality** in a mathematical text, there is no problem, since the plugin will not match with these.\n\n`If a == b and c == d then the theorem is right.` --> will not cause any problem.\n\nBut, if there is **NO** space around **double equality** in a mathematical text, the plugin assumes they are marker but actually not. \n\n`If a==b and c==d then the theorem is right.` --> will cause the plugin match a marker `<mark>b and c</mark>`, unwantedly.\n\nIn order the plugin to handle this kind of mathematical expressions correctly, there is `equalityOperator` option.\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  equalityOperator: \"=:=\",\n});\n```\n\n```markdown\nIf a=:=b and c=:=d then the theorem is right\n```\n\nNow, the plugin is going to convert the `=:=` into `==` as should be. \n\n```html\n<p>If a==b and c==d then the theorem is right</p>\n```\n\nBy default, the option is **undefined**, which means no check happens.\n\n#### `actionForEmptyContent`\n\nIt is a **union** `\"keep\" | \"remove\" | \"mark\"` option to handle marker syntax with empty content in a markdown document.\n\nBy default, it is `mark`, meaningly the plugin will create an empty `<mark>` node for marker syntax with empty content.\n\nI don't know what could be a reason you use empty markers, but anyway I wanted to handle it. Here is an example marker syntax with empty content.\n\n```markdown\n====, ==  ==, =r===, =r= ==\n```\n\nYou have **three options** to handle marker syntax with empty content.\n\n##### **`keep`** will keep the syntax as it is.\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  actionForEmptyContent: \"keep\",\n});\n```\nwill produce:\n```html\n<p>====, ==  ==, =r===, =r= ==</p>\n```\n\n##### **`remove`** will remove the mark syntax with empty content.\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  actionForEmptyContent: \"remove\",\n});\n```\n\nwill produce:\n\n```html\n<p>, , , </p>\n```\n\n##### **`mark`** will create an empty `<mark>` node.\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  actionForEmptyContent: \"mark\", // actually, it is default\n});\n```\n\nwill produce `<mark>` nodes with additional class name \"flexible-marker-empty\".\n\n```html\n<p>\n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-default flexible-marker-empty\"></mark>,\n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-default flexible-marker-empty\"></mark>,\n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-red flexible-marker-empty\"></mark>,\n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-red flexible-marker-empty\"></mark>\n</p>\n```\n\n## Examples:\n\n```markdown\nHere is ==marked content==\n\nHere is =r=marked content with r classification==\n\nHere are **==marked bold content==** and ==**marked bold content**==\n\n### ==marked content in headings==\n```\n\n#### Without any option\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers);\n```\n\nis going to produce as default:\n\n```html\n<p>\n  Here is \n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-default\">marked content</mark>\n</p>\n<p>\n  Here is \n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-red\">marked content with r classification</mark>\n</p>\n<p>\n  Here are \n  <strong>\n    <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-default\">marked bold content</mark>\n  </strong>\n   and \n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-default\">\n    <strong>marked bold content</strong>\n  </mark>\n</p>\n<h3>\n  <mark class=\"flexible-marker flexible-marker-default\">marked content in headings</mark>\n</h3>\n```\n\n#### With options\n\n```javascript\nuse(remarkFlexibleMarkers, {\n  dictionary: {\n    r: \"rain\",\n  },\n  markerClassName: \"custom-marker\",\n  markerTagName: \"span\",\n  markerProperties(color) {\n    return {\n      [\"data-color\"]: color,\n    };\n  },\n});\n```\n\nis going to produce:\n\n```html\n<p>\n  Here is \n  <span class=\"custom-marker custom-marker-default\">marked content</span>\n</p>\n<p>\n  Here is \n  <span class=\"custom-marker custom-marker-rain\" data-color=\"rain\">marked content with r classification</span>\n</p>\n<p>\n  Here are \n  <strong>\n    <span class=\"custom-marker custom-marker-default\">marked bold content</span>\n  </strong>\n   and \n  <span class=\"custom-marker custom-marker-default\">\n    <strong>marked bold content</strong>\n  </span>\n</p>\n<h3>\n  <span class=\"custom-marker custom-marker-default\">marked content in headings</span>\n</h3>\n```\n\n> [!TIP]\n> You can use the marker syntax in the **tables**, **headings**, **lists**, **blockquotes** etc. You can have a look at the test files in the github repo for detailed examples.\n\n## Syntax tree\n\nThis plugin only modifies the mdast (markdown abstract syntax tree) as explained.\n\n## Types\n\nThis package is fully typed with [TypeScript][url-typescript].
