Nothing is\nsent anywhere to read it. The tier decision at the bottom is the whole routing\nargument in three tests: where the answer lives, whether a mistake surfaces, and\nwhat error rate the rule was measured at.\n\nSprag does not swap the model you asked for. It reads what you have already run,\nfinds the kinds of task that never went wrong on a cheaper tier, and spawns a\nsub-agent for exactly those. It did not. The same criteria, wired up\nas a router, scored 1.2 points above the best single model at a third of the\ncost. Nothing is best at everything, which is why choosing per task beats\nchoosing once.\n\nMeasured offline on LLMRouterBench (Findings of ACL 2026): 11,696 instances, 13\nmodels whose answers, scores and costs ship with the dataset. No model was\ncalled and nothing was spent. The router chose; the numbers were looked up. Run\nit again and you get the same figures. It validates the criteria, not sprag's own\nrouting: the dataset has no Claude models, so deepseek-v3, qwen3-235b and gpt-5\nstood in for cheap, mid and flagship.\n\nThe last three rows are ledgers on this machine. Paste the chip text into Claude and the Skill names the root-cause code and the fix. It asked which files reference\n`process.env` without saying whether subdirectories counted, and the two read it\ndifferently. Adding that one condition made their answers identical. The question\nwas ambiguous, not hard.\n\nThe remaining miss is the cheap tier leaving entries out of a file listing. A\nwrong listing is one you can see is wrong, which is the second criterion doing\nits job.\n\nSo the cheap tier is not free. On this sample one lookup in eight comes back\nworse, for a quarter of the price.
